Thoughts and Feedback so Far
All in all, im happy to see Defiance being revitalised albeit in a small slow burn kind of way (Im expecting big things over time!). However with the changes there are bound to be issues with what has changed.
Pros:
- Classes: first of all the addition of classes and specialised character building is a vast improvement over the loosey goosey previous system, they all feel unique and im excited to develop the skill trees.
- Menus and UI: The general UI of the game feels much nicer and smoother with a more accessible and digestible layout.
- Mission Changes: I love that (noticeably the tutorial) there have been minor quality of life changes to some of the missions which make them much more smooth and well directed.
Cons:
- Random Freezes: I made a first character and everything was fine all the way to the end of tutorial, made a second character and with many reboots and progression in the story, im experiencing completely random freezes which stop me in place, i cant even hear talk in discord and my friend even said when i froze i was stuck in air just as i was seeing. Cant say if that was me or the game, but hey you gotta know.
- First Shot Accuracy: When firing a gun, the bloom of its accuracy is progressive as a result of firing consistently, however in the game the first shot also has the virtual random chance applied to it, which just doesnt work. I understand thats the easiest way for a game engine to understand bloom but the first shot should be where the gun is aiming.
- Aiming Sensitivity: The sensitivity of the mouse can be adjusted but the in scope and ADS one cant.
- Vehicle Turning: I dont know what has happened but vehicles feel abysmal and down right unpleasant to drive now, they just dont turn without a huge delay and to make any use you have to hand brake which is looser and more abrasive than it should be.
- Enemy Awareness: Especially noticeable in the cleavers and the medical mission enemies seem to randomly jitter around, walk away from the player or stop in their tracks and in general have a poor time locating and attacking the player.
