Nah the point again is you could pay to get up there faster than someone else could without paying.
You can directly pay for power in the cash shop, if they would do this at a open world PvP game it woulda been a bloodbath.
That is also my reasoning why I can't care, enjoy PvE no intentions in paying anything. (never did at the first one)
There is always something to complain about, welcome to earth brothers and sisters!

It certainly has the potential to be seen hat way, I made a thread about the dangers of being able to buy keys and salvage but after I have been playing for a bit I wonder if it is more a pay for convenience that pay for "power" so to speak. Buying these items will save you a lot of time on the grind but the biggest issue is how it will apply to PvP.

lol wait until you get near 3k power. im not buying keys n my boys are. i been power stuck for 2 days they are 3k+ now. the grind gets very bad. i get gun drops around 200 below my power haha. cant use blue guns 2 lvl anymore n most my purps rarely are high enough to boost me 10 20 points. lets not forget i cant seem to figure out how 2 earn a key outside they story.

Deleting inventory slots and the price of the starter packs is enought to smell the cashgrab.

Yup inv slots is the real pay to win here, not the salvage crates or whatever. Especially with how the new power system works.

I guess it's "pay to win" if by win you mean get to the maximum power level a week into the game's launch instead of over time? IDK.

That was the whole point. lol keep the key capacity super low to begin with so people complain about it. Then they sell extra key capacity in the store. Just another way to make money. I know for sure that they know that the low amount of keys were going to be a problem. Just a tactic to make more money. A lot of pay to win games do the same thing.

HiRez have a much better monetisation template in the Free to Play market, and it's much more fair on the community. They give free to players the ability to get everything in the game through extensive grinding, and the only things you can buy are cosmetic. You can buy the premium currency for chests or direct purchase skins and this adds to a sense of customisation, whilst maintaining a stable platform where all players are equal and it takes nothing out of the game mechanically.

Games where you have to buy to be better and progress are sort of scandalous, and whilst I haven't found a problem with grinding in this game as of yet, I do realise that anything stat buffing or rare drops are basically exclusively through your wallet.

I get it, they have to make money somehow, but there are far better ways to go around this. Character slots, skins, voice packs, RNG chests for vehicles, ability colours, themes, titles, hell, they could even implement some sort of pet in the game in which the base is some bog standard dog and you could get some really cool Trove inspired Dragons as a little something something from their other IPs. I mean c'mon, discluding players from aspects of a game because of their monetary influence is something we all hate, and there is more than one way to make money without dividing a playerbase.

You're more likely to spend money if you feel like you're not bribing someone for more power over just spending it of your own free will to support a game in which is fair and equal to all.
