Why do Rampages say you need X for gold, but 2X gives silver?

Rampage: Draw the line - 45,000 = gold.

I get 119,xxx and I get silver?

Seriously?
Trion computers are number based (aughts and naughts), and they can't do math?

Is the scoring secretly done in base 8.7?
This is ridiculous.

It's not just this Rampage, all of them give random awards from time to time, some more often than others.
No wonder rampages, hotshots and races are generally reviled.
The winning score required seems to be based on an RNG target score, and anything else is just 'also ran'.
