I am just happy they didn't touch Sniper Rifles.
where is this info about incoming weapon nerfing? You mention it in OP, but fail to link the dev who said so...
Patch notes - http://forums.defiance.com/showthrea...inter-solstice)
In this topic...people QQ about the shotty nerf that EVERYONE knew was coming!
Not concerned with the shotty thing, but I AM concerned about the infector changes.
Those things are already an issue. To nerf their damage, and RANGE? They're already hard to deal with lol
I wish that companies would understand that PvP changes need to be for PvP and leave the PvE aspects alone. I've always had that wish.
It wouldn't be so bad if weapons actually had variations to their damage. But since they're static, these nerfs are just oh so brilliant. I called it from the start when they said there was going to be an 8 pages worth of notes for the patch. I knew they were going to bork over pve because of pvp. It's obvious that they can differentiate between pvp and pve with the stats because they're altering the pistol ammo pool for pvp and leaving it alone in pve. Why they aren't doing that with the rest of the nerfs is just beyond me. Part of the reason why I hate games with pvp because they always screw over the main portion of the game to "balance" things.
1 week in and nerf bat on weapons has swung! Wow is all I can say. Maybe fix issues the game has before nerfing things in game.
80% of your playerbase is still trying to figure out the mechanics of the game.
I do think it would be a better idea to separate gun stats into PvP/PvE since (as is usually the case) a lot of the nerfed stuff was only problematic in PvP.
I don't understand why they went after sawed offs, to be honest. The 1 shot/1 shot+melee kills are pretty well offset by the fact that you have to reload after every shot. Auto shotties and pump shotties are far more dangerous in my experience, at least in Shadow Wars. If you can't get the kill with the shot + melee attack you are pretty much SOL with the sawed off. With the pump and combat shotties you don't really have that issue and it doesn't take that much longer to kill somebody with one at close range.
yeah, I really dont get the point of sawn-offs if they are weaker then pumps, isn't it supposed to be a trade-off weapon? accuracy and fire-rate for sheer damage? I have never found a single sawn-off with more raw damage then a pump shotgun, if anything sawn-offs should be slightly higher damage then what pump shotguns are now and pump shotguns should be closer to where sawn-offs are.
I've been PvPing a good bit and am enjoying it despite it being a little broken, but I certainly sympathize (I enjoy PvEing as well and would love for more guns to be viable there).
But yeah. Both the Infector and Sawed Off were already useless in PvE. This just adds to that problem.
There is a reason why Infectors are being nerfed. If you think they are "the suck" then you aren't using them correctly. Infectors are a problem - in Arkfalls. If you use an Infector on the Arkfall weakspots - you've pretty much guaranteed your spot at the top.
They needed a nerf, although, I'm not sure this was the nerf that was needed.
Once again....that's pvp nerf away. But the need to leave pve alone.
I am just baffled that in this day (year 2013) they are still unable to Balance (nerf) stuff for PVP only! without hurting PVE!
So everyone is going to run around with LMG's coming 15th! I was already using it as primary weapon, but now I have even less reason to switch!
Just stupid! Devs never learn!
If that's true then, then the solution is to increase the amount of health the arkfalls have. Infectors are limited weapons.
Sporeshot does about 600. This is very little in comparsion to a sniper, a close range shotgun or an modded LMG. Plus the added bonus of the 5 1s or 4s that come. they didn't need to be touched because they are hard to come by (mine is the one I bought from Game stop) So its a weak gun in comparison. So no if you are the only one in an arkfall with one, its no different than using a rocket launcher. Lower damage is always a bad idea if the monster health remains.
Triton, your target audience is the same as the show. Its adults, most adults use a PC.
Made a post on another thread about my thoughts about the infector. Needed a PvP nerf as it was way too nub friendly for how good it was in Shadow Wars. They need a PvE buff though IMO. I can't see any reason to use an infector over an equivalent class weapon. The sniper infectors suck compared to snipers, the shotgun infectors suck compared to shotguns, and the SMG infectors suck compared to SMGs. Slow bug movement speed and nerf auto-aim while buffing bug damage notably = nerfs the gun in PvP because people can dodge the bugs and increases the skill requirement while buffing the gun in PvE as the bugs will consistently hit their targets and the free death-bugs spawn more frequently in PvE.
I'm currently leveling Infectors for the pursuit. When compared to the AR/SMG/LMG/Sniper Rifle/Pistol it's very much a LOL DIS IS SILLE weapon in PVE. I just don't see the purpose of nerfing it at all-- in PVE.
Of all the PVE changes, I have to admit the LMG nerf was needed... for certain LMGs. Too much content could be completed using ONLY that weapon.
What? Really?Quote:
● Lowered damage output of sawed off shotguns.
● General tuning to improve LMGs.
every lmg type except the saw sucks hardcore and bring nothing to the table over a similiar base damage ar, not even clip size.
this is what i'm hoping they are tuning. not everyone uses the SAW's because it's not something you can hipfire or sustain fire on most targets. it requires some skill to use, and i still see mostly AR's, shotguns and detonators in san francisco
I have no idea why the nerfed Infectors.
I have no idea why they buffed Rocket Launchers.
I have no idea what is happening.
which still put most of them behind my pump, with few doing more damage, barely even close to enough to even think about justifying the trade-off.
if it's not OHKing most standard enemies and almost OHKing most other things it isn't doing nearly enough .
