When I play the game, I feel like im on a old school grind fest.
The game isn't jaw dropping like a Bioshock or Skyrim. But it doesn't need to be. It feels like an older gem that I missed out on and am just getting to it now.
It doesn't hold your hand, none of the perks or guns are OP. You adapt your load-outs to your style, my load-out will not be viable for you an visa versa.
As I was playing last night it hit me. This game is just "fun".
+1 I agree. Its a bit old school and I would've loved this at like the 2 year point with Xbox. It has the old Chromehound effect on me. I'm a loot person so I would like to see more variety but if I wanted to eat my cake too....Quote:

One of the best things to do in this game is just to get on your favorite ride and just head out looking for trouble... I mean adventure. The most fun I'm having is getting into random battles - sometimes just me and sometimes other players wading in. Love it.
I found a place that I could do a contract by accident last night. I wasn't sure if there were other places so I just hung out around this farm killing raiders over and over. I realized that hey, I'm essentially camping for spawns, and I hadn't done that in about ten years. If felt like I should be mad about that, but I was having so much fun.
I think the simplest things in this game are enjoyable just because the shooting is so fun.

This game is one of the funest games ive played in a while. All to often new releases come out, i buy them and find that there all getting to be the same. Boring. This on the other hand has defenetly brought the fun factor back to console gaming :)

It is funny because last night I was grinding on some Marin pursuits and finding all the recorders when it popped in my head that I was doing things on a console that I hadn't done since my computer days on OLD school UO (ultima online) days....just do things to do them and not about beating anything or getting an achievement. The graphics are palatable, the gun play works, the server is MUCH improved, the communication/social aspect stinks, but all in all I LOVE playing. Either way, I can see all the possibilities that this game can become and I while I am not rushing anything (only 498 ego or something) I can't wait for the things to come. For the world to expand, the missions to grow, the "social" aspect enhance, and all awhile I don't mind doing things over to help a friend. In order to be great you don't have to change 1 thing 100% but instead just 100 things 1%...and I believe Defiance is well on its way not to mention they are really doing something groundbreaking on a console.
I am just happy to be along for the ride and happy that my non-gaming wife (and I say that in the most extreme context) has had the patience to let me do my thing!

Yes pacing is great. You control it. When I complete a story mission and see all the sidequests pop up I get a little over whelmed haha.
