And they are still subpar when facing multiple enemies. Just takes to much time. A Pump/Combat can clear it out way faster with a lot less risk.

so I gather since they are nerfing dmg, they are making the reload faster? I mean after all that is the whole point of having a high dmg, low mag, long reload weapon, you destroy stuff, but give up a lot of ground if you miss.
You take away the only positive and you are left with a weapon that has no reason to be used. Do like pistols, reduce the damage in PVP and leave it alone in PVE... Why can you boost pistol mags in PVP but not reduce shotgun dmg.
personally I'd like to see them get a fair damage buff (so the weak ones are higher then most current pumps per shot), with a much larger spread.
the trade-off is huge, so the pay-off needs to be equally sizable, the only thing the sawn-off has over a pump is the tighter spread and double shot, but the double shot is in no way a damage trade-off big enough to justify the single shot and the tighter spread is entirely counter to the premise of sawn-offs.
As a Sawed Off PvE user this change makes me sad. Seeing as they are putting a PVP only Pistol change on the same patch, They really should do the same here.
Or alternately, they should lower the reload time a bit to compensate for the loss. Would help it be more useful in PvE without adversely affecting those scared of being one shot by it in PvP.
The patch notes are set changes yet, more of an outline of what they want to do. The whole reason for posting them before the patch was made and applied was to get feedback on the proposed changes.
Its unlikely that changes will be made but if they are it will be down to threads like this one.
Dammit, I only do PvE and I love my sawed-off. So now we're getting punished because they can't come up with a better way to balance shotguns for PvP? It's not like it's the greatest weapon for PvE to begin with, I just love the playstyle involved in sprinting up to an enemy and blowing their guts out. Pump action be damned! If they make it useless, what the hell is the point in all the time I've invested in ranking up my skill for the weapon?
I think the shotty damage is fine. The synergy it has with cloak isn't though. Not sure if nerfed the damage is the correct approach, but we'll have to wait and see how much it was changed first. The again it won't change a thing as you can just rock 2 shotties and cloak. Shoot one, swap gun, shoot next = same result.
I also agree that pump actions are just as big of a problem, I hope they get addressed as well.
