The old never-ending childish epeen war. Just dont feed the trolls and they starve!
Ugh, it would be nice if Steam could get their thumbs out of their backside and moderate their forums. If they were smart, they'd realize anybody talking/trashing negatively about ANY title they sell, hurts their bottom lines. I beta'ed FireFall, and it's "okay", but honestly, it was definitely lacking in the PvE arena, it's more PvP-oriented... I'm honestly more stoked about Defiance. If memory serves correctly as well, FireFall won't be on all the major systems like Defiance; even though I know there's no cross-platforming, it'll still be nice to be able to play at one point on PC... and then later chill on your PS3 or 360 in the living room and play Defiance for the total flexibility.
Just sucks that fanboys hating are hampering the sales. I *really* want to do the pre-order on Steam (which I do believe at least comes with the red dodge challenger), simply because their tier bonuses look AWESOME. It'd be great if the sales could get high enough to get all three tiers... then you'd get a red dodge challenger, the default ATV, the bonus boosted ATV, and the tier 3 bonus truck... that'd be FOUR vehicles right from the word go. I hate to take that gamble though with the game releasing in only 3 weeks. I mean, I guess in essence the standard/base pre-order bonuses are for the most part the same irregardless if it doesn't hit any tiers... but if that's the case, I may as well just be safe and go straight through Trion. But wow, the benefits of all three tiers if the sales could just pop; the fanboy haters need to stop driving down sales though!!! :(
Even though I can't speak for everybody, I can speak for myself. Most my "mmo gaming" I do on PC, and honestly, I'm pretty tired/bored/sick of tab-target and "whack-a-mole, 1-8 action-bar" MMOs. FireFall is too PvP-oriented for my tastes (I did beta for it, and it is good, but it's lacking in the PvE department, and gets kind of shallow), I played Tera for about a month before I got bored of it... Tera is "open-world" but it's very "corridor-ed", you go from one place to the next doing "grind quests" of just "kill x-amount of this" and/or "get this many drop item from that mob over there" CONTINUOUSLY... making it sadly quite shallow. I won't support NeverWinter as PWI's business practices I've dealt with in the past are about as shady as they get. Wildstar looks awesome and really looking forward to it. Archeage will be awhile coming to the US, but thankfully, when it does, that will ALSO be Trion, w00t! The MMO market on PC is a ghost-town to be perfectly honest... too many developers milked the "magic formula" for the last decade or two of sword/shield medieval wash/rinse/repeat carrot-on-a-stick-grindfest... to the point most users are stuck in that mindset, and why many "alternate" MMOs don't work out. Anarchy Online was killer awesome, but even that's gone f2p and is barely hanging on; The Secret World was "alright" but ran out of playability/content in 2-3 months, etc.
Also, on PS3, from what I understand, FF14 has its fair share of issues I believe.
It is true that Defiance doesn't have really any competition on 360, that's because Microsoft is way to "gestapo" as far as what games they allow and the ability to "MMO"... I'm honestly kind of shocked Trion didn't hit more of a brick-wall when trying to release on 360. That does however also work against the playerbase on the 360 version; why? Because anybody really looking for MMOs, since 360 doesn't typically support them, would probably have used a PS3 or PC more, and the die-hard 360 fans are probably more for small-group shooters, racing games, sports games, single-player, etc. I'd be willing to fathom that on the 360 this might fly under the radar of many 360 players, or register on their radar and still not get that much attention. :)
You can be sure about that? The game launches in three weeks... there's 3 tiers, and they're only 15% of the way to the first tier (first notch). oO
EDIT: Also to throw out another bone on the whole FireFall vs. Defiance. I again just have to say I'd lean more towards Defiance... as it looks as though it probably runs and plays more like a true console/fast-paced action game... where, after having done beta for FireFall, at least for me, FireFall still felt like it had the "bloated coding" of a PC-based game. Nothing wrong with a PC based game mind you... but when it comes to fast-action -- fast-paced and streamline coding that's really smooth goes a lot further as far as longevity goes, at least for me. In fact, this almost seems more like what APB (Reloaded) should have played more like... just with actual PvE and more depth of storyline. :)
