    Protect Aegis Part 1... Wow.
I doubt anyone struggled with this as much as I did. Re-boot 4 Sentries? Could be interesting.

Sentry number 1: Oh that was fairly straight forward. Lots of Rockets and common Raiders.
Sentry number 2: They're all distracted by Hellbugs. Easy Peasy.
Sentry number 3: Whoa, two Tankers? That's gonna take some strategy.
Sentry number 4: ... What in the name of all HELL?

I'm bombarded by literally dozens of Skitterlings and at least 7 Warrior Hellbugs. I survive by retreating and spraying. Now here come the Elite Raiders. Whoa! Lots of them! In fact, they're coming out by the truck load! Oh up on the field is the Sentry. I'll try and arm it and run like hell. Damn! It won't let me re-boot it until the area is clear of all... Yikes! One of those giant rogue monsters! But look, two other guys to help me. Oh wait, one just ran for it. Yes! Killed it (After what felt like an age). Okay, can I re-boot the... No. Still not clear enough to... Holy Hell!

Here come Archer Hellbugs. 6 of them. Oh and 6 Warriors as well. And another 3 Dozen Skitterlings! Good grief! How the hell did I survive that? Oh no that Rogue Giant has regenerated!! Why the hell does it keep coming over here?! Kill it again! Agh! The Hell Bugs have regenerated! This is insane! Oh and here come the Elite Raiders. That's just perfect. All we need now is a... Sweet Zombie Jesus! Now there's a Monarch!

Taking myself away from this narrative for a moment; This all happened. I went back and forth for 30 minutes. Everything just kept regenerating. I killed 3 Giant Rogues, at least 20 Archers, 50+ Raiders, 20+ Warriors, more than 100 Skitterling, and a Monarch! I feel like I just fought an entire army! I even logged off and abandoned mission trying to get that stupid Sentry to interact with me, but it was adamant I had to kill everything within 100 meters.

What I want to know is if that was supposed to be that insane, or if other players doing missions nearby caused different battle areas to merge into me? Thanks. I need a Drink.

Fairly certain it's a recent bug, no pun intended. Reports have been pouring in with similar experiences.

Yours was definitely the most amusing to read, though.

Amazingly my hands are completely fine, but I tell you when I saw the Sentry glowing at long last and I knew I could Re-boot it... I haven't known relief in a video game quite like it. The fight was Epic, but I was too busy worrying WHY it was so over the top to really enjoy it :( Oh man, if there had been about 30 players doing that with me... it would have been amazing.

I had a ***** of a time. Not because of the fights, the fights were all right balance-wise for me.

The ***** for me was the turrets wouldn't work. I had to redo the quest 3-4 times before I could interact with the turrets after clearing out the area-- I think a skitterling had fallen through the world and kept a turret in combat.

It's a buggy area of the map, in general. Lots of strange things happen there.

Well thank you  So it is a Bug then. I figured it might be. The difficulty spike would have been the stuff of MMO folklore had it been legitimately intended.

As noted by a poster above, you actually got off easy. A lot of us relogged 10 times or more just to get the turrets to work.

It -was- an amazing fight, though. At one point (when faced with that HORDE of skitterlings)I actually just hopped into my roller and started mowing them down, en masse, until the damn thing exploded. And then I rolled out, shields depleted, and started killing them with a shotgun and melee attacks. It really was one of the most epic glitches in gaming.

Easy fix then would be to have it always available for interaction until you've already activated it. That way the whole damn army can fall through the map but I can still get the mission done because I'm not being shot and prevented from activating the sentry. I too thought it was a glitch at first so I abandoned the mission then took it again. Same thing, first two easy, 3rd with the tankers, then Hellmouth for 4th. I can see a Lot of people giving up on that mission. Having to kill as many things as I did jut to activate the sentry. Unbelievable.

I def agree the fights on the way are epic... specially the last one i did not expect a side quest to be so populated with enemies and solo it hurts after using cloak constantly then switching to overkill before this. As for the turrets not working i ran into that and just logged to fix that part.

I forgot to mention I actually logged off once and Abandoned the mission once. Epic glitch it certainly was! I came around the 3rd Roadblock, saw an army of Skitterlings Charging me and it was like... What the hell?!?

Too bad my contract only wants 40 Skitterling Hydes from Marin. I could have done that contract 5 times over.

I finished it, I ran straight to the 4th turret & cleared it out of bad guys then if I couldn't rebootit I would run away and come back. Eventually it let me reboot it.

I think by the end I was in full blow Stubborn mode. I was NOT about to leave that area. That sentry WAS going to work for me. I just had to keep killing and killing and killing some more!

This is exactly what happens with me whenever I run into a seemingly unsurmountable obstacle. It gets personal. -It's on-.

Absolutely. I'm trying to interact with something and I get shot it's just like... "Oh you F****r! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna freaking kill you!"

Ive finished clearing the area many many times. Its my farming spot at the moment for leveling up my weapon skills. Great way to get your weekly for the hulker done too Just been hanging out around there most of the past day or 2.

BTW, easy way to clear the area if you just want the mission done is to make the Hulker your weapon. He will 1 shot AoE all of those other mobs. Just hit him a few times to draw him to you, dodge his attack.... watch everything around him go boom. Even 1 shots the Monarch.

There is a Hulker everytime I tried to go there I gave up on this mission until I can get some help with it!
    * It doesnt help that after a hour of trying and finally killing all the enemies the turret glitched out and wouldnt let me finish it!

Use the method I mentioned with the Hulker. Also, if you have cloak, or have the points to unlock it, thats a great way too. Dont even need to aggro the Hulker. He will just rampage around killing everything for you. Since he is technically a Raider, him and the hellbugs will fight eachother. As will all the other raiders in the area fight the hellbugs. Dont even really need to get involved in the fight at all. Just sit back, watch them kick the crap out of eachother, then finish off the last few that are still alive after a couple minutes.

If you do manage to aggro the Hulker, he will also kill the rest of the raiders with his AoEs. Just let him walk up to melee range, start his attack, dodge.

I managed to kill everything, but it won't let me do anything to the turrets. I just abandoned the mission and I'll try again later.

Yep, this quest is bugged to hell. Just restart it and clear areas over and over again like a maniac; there is no foolproof solution and they all boil down to this.

This is a fairly known spot as hundreds of people are seen daily, farming this spot for both skitterlings to work towards the 50k kill and weapon skill on the hulker.

Because they don't know there is much easier ways to do both of these.

I used that spot for BMG and detonator skill level 5. I don't intend to use it anymore ^.^.

I however wasn't gonna argue with going from 3 to 10 in little over four hours of grinding the hulker.

I posted this in another thread but my experience showed that not all mobs have to be dead. I logged out for a couple hours up the hill from the turret. When I logged back in, all the mobs spawned. I sat back while the Hulker pulled agro on all the others and they ganged up on him, and once I saw every mob attacking him, I ran to the turret and activated it and left. Quick and painless.

The quest itself is bugged. You can simply kill all that is there, walk away and go back. It will all be back and can be farmed to your mindless content. To use the turrets with no problem however. Crouch and it will make it easier. Had to do it with a computer console that bugged out too.

You keep mentioning farming. Is that the Grinder mentality? I can't possibly see myself wanting to farm for skills (Especially when it makes such a small difference) in an area like that. Utter hell! Then again I just don't farm period. Your game lasts a lot longer when you just let it all happen rather than grinding it out- contracts excluded.

This has incorrect information. It says all mobs must be killed prior to using the turret but they do NOT have to be. As long as the turret has been reset and everything is fighting away from (not hitting) the turret, you're good to go. In the easiest scenario, it's to let the Hulker pull everything.

I logged off dozens of times & abandoned the quest at least 6 times in 4 hours. I read in another thread that if you pass the farm on the way from the quest giving area you're screwed. I started quest then fast traveled to the next closest area and came at it from the opposite side and didn't have a problem.

The giant pulls agro from the raiders and hellbugs that are just down the road and then it's mayhem. Or someone coming to do it pulls agro with them.

It's a great place to farm those rockets for the contract though!

Just use your car to mow-down the skitterlings then killing the hulker is fairly easy..

If you get a monarch aswell, well, they might fight each other but i'd target the hulker first.

I couldn't get the 4th gun till I beat the Raider Hulker a few times and had to come from the opposite direction and not go through all the raiders for the 4th gun to be able to be activated or whatever. Could of used that Reaper minigun around that time.

I had a similar experience with a side mission in San Francisco, where I had to place two bombs or something and the area was extremely well defended by mutants right from the get go but as soon as I killed 2-3 of them 3 helicopters decided to drop a couple dozen more right as not one not two but three mutant grenadiers popped out and every time I killed them 3 more would show up totaling in 9 grenadiers when the dust had settled and everything was dead. I usually solo all my side missions but man did I regret not bringing a buddy for that one, damn good fight tho :) lol

Haha. I had just tried this one the other night, but due to an arkfall right on top of the area, the massive and fast respawns, other people already activating the turrets, and the second coming of Christ, I got exhausted after about 30 minutes, so I quit the quest and moved on to the next :D
