Sharpshooting Savior

This activity is listed as part of the weekly contract for Soleptor. It’s part of the Rust Removal contract. The NPC’s you need to protect from Raiders have extremely low health making this activity near impossible. One raider can shoot the NPC 1x and 3/4 of its health is gone. This was an issue in the original game.

I recommend to either buff the NPC health. Lower the raiders damage output in this specific activity or remove activity from the contract and replace it with a different one. It would be greatly appreciated. Currently, this is the only objective holding my character back from completing Rust Removal.

This one is a pain in the butt, but it's doable, once you learn their patterns.

I'll do a vid next time and upload it - you'll see I keep an eye on where they spawn, and which ones to shoot first.

Once you get the rhythm, it's not too bad.

Not a fan of the sharpshooting ones myself, though...

Or they should attack first us as far more higher threat level enemies not the technicians. I think I would do that if I would be a raider with a little brain... :)

Honestly in consoles, its way to awkward for me to aim depends on which platform you are on.

It's doable if you shoot them before they reach the van . But more health would be nice since sniping is a lot harder on consoles.

I love doing this hotshot, it is quite easy especially if you use the sight and know where they will be coming from. No bugs on this one as far as I am concerned.

To balance things out I can't do any of the racing ones at all but I know its just a pc keyboard/skill issue, not a bug issue.

Let me clarify. I have completed this with Gold more than once. I also have gold on the last gen version of the game. But the issue is, sometimes the enemies do not spawn, the npc health is low and if you watch. 1 raider can kill the npc in just a shot or two. This is by far the most difficult mini game in Defiance and has been since I started playing back in 2014. So please don’t assume that I “can’t” do it as my motivation for asking them to adjust it. It’s not. Furthermore, the hit box for the enemy is small and spite having shot an enemy in the face sometime the game doesn’t register it as a critical hit. Sometimes the game doesn’t register it at all. So yes, it needs a change.

Could be why some might have a problem. You don't need a crit to kill the raiders. A hit anywhere and they die. I just go for center of mass and they go down.

I play on PC but use a controller. However, I also switch to a mouse for this.

Just play as demo class. If you miss the raiders when they are moving throw out a hatchling grenade when they are close to NPCs.

I have never had any issues/bugs with this hotshot... I have only heard people in my clan complain because they do not like sniper hotshots.... The raiders should not get anywhere near the npc's and should be sniped before they get anywhere near them. I do think it could be your way of doing the hotshot, or your connection is not a very good one....



This hotshot does not need fixing... and needs to be left alone... imo. Get used to the sniping sight and clear the raiders.... Get to know where the raiders come from and kill them before they get past the trucks even.


By the way, it is one of the easiest contracts... along with the other hotshots... they are easy to do..... and very quick also.

Not fourthed; I'm with Ryu Soba, I find this to be the hardest of the hot shots (most likely because I suck at sniping)

I’ll repeat myself once again for those who have problems reading. I have GOLD already in this hotshot. I’ve been playing the original game daily since 2014 and the new one since closed beta. I am very aware of how to to use a sniper and complete this task. I never said it was a BUG. I simply posted it under bug reports by MISTAKE.

Killing the raiders BEFORE they reach the guys only completes the activity without enough score. Letting them get too close only kills the guys because THEY HAVE NO HEALTH. It’s also easier on PC because point and click. Additionally, the hit box is not accurate. Perhaps this is an issue with the accuracy bug that is floating around.

But, how about some of you take the time to go back and read the years of post about this very same QoL change that has been asked for since before I started playing. This particular hotshot is tedious and unnecessary and just because point and click don’t have issues doesn’t mean the console players don’t have issues. Furthermore, before some of these console players claim that its “easy”, most of you found a clever way to complete this task through mechanic manipulation. Don’t think for 1 second that it has gone unnoticed. The reason I haven’t resulted to such tactics is because I believe playing a game how it was intended.

Using the sniper does suck. So that's why you work smarter, not harder, and put together a few mechanical manipulations, as you say, for easy completion. It's a daily today and I'm sitting on a score of about 33,000 on Xbox. That's the way it should be if they're not fixing it properly.

The thing is, there's a million more pressing issues in either version of the game, and fixing something like this is not only low on their priority, it's better if they never give it time of day so they can focus on more serious issues. Of which there are a lot. And maybe, MAYBE they eventually get to low priority ones like this. Of which there are ALSO a lot.

Shouldn't deliberately make things harder on yourself for purist's sake. This ain't the kind of game worth that flavor of dedication.

This is doable! It took me many trys to get gold! But once you get the pattern down, it becomes alot more easy. There is also 2 different work arounds for this that make it really simple . But I dont want to spoil the challenge. This hot shot by far is the hardest. The guys your protecting could use some more health. If your not paying attention they can get killed off pretty quick.

I don't wanna burst your bubble but everyone on this board knows the 2 workaround. OP would like this challenge to be easier because he wants to beat it without them.

It’s not really about making it easier. It’s about the NPC’s health versus a Raiders accuracy and damage versus using a sniper and clearly shooting an enemy in the face and having the game show a missed shot. I’ve completed this with Gold. In fact, I have gold in every hotshot and rampage. I do think using unintended workarounds is no different than exploiting a game. I do know that this is how many are completing these. Just look at the scores on some of them.

Also, it was suggested that you don’t need to land crits to earn the proper score. I’ve landed mostly body shots. Killed every enemy and still barely had enough score for bronze. It took me more than 3 hours to finally earn gold and most were critical shots.

Perhaps one of you on PS4 could share a video showing how YOU’VE complete it legit. No mechanic shennanigans. Should be easy enough, right?
