Bizarre things. Questions.

Hey, I’ve been seeing some odd occurrences lately and was wondering if anyone else has experienced these. I play primarily on PS4 but xbone and PC can comment.

First, Grenades, I noticed that sometimes my grenade does nothing to enemies. I throw it, it lands, I see the vfx and the effect on an enemy but no damage. None. Happens maybe once every 10 or so throws.

Second, random players spawning in the middle of contracts. Furthermore, random players spawning on your character. Players you’re not friends with with. Let me explain, was doing a medical recovery contract today and suddenly from thin air, two players appeared in the contract. They didn’t drive or run in. Even stranger, they had score. A few days ago, I was at the Dark Matter Base finishing the Crusader missions and while I’m fighting the enemies a random player spawns on me, doesn’t move and a moment later either teleported away or logged off. This one was very odd because I’ve never seen the player before and haven’t seen them since. This has actually happened a few times. Additionally, today I was doing a Hellbug Arkfall Major, was at one of the minor spawns within the major alone but when the enemies spawned they ran off as if they were aggro to another player. But there was no other player, there was no other enemy type that could have aggro the hellbugs. This went on for two rounds. It was so bizarre. My only conclusion is that phasing is having some issues. Meaning, the hellbugs ran off because there was another player but somehow they were phased out. The two players who randomly appeared in the contract somehow changed phase during it. But the player spawning on me, that has be baffled. It’s happened more than once too.

And lastly, I saw a player recently with that outfit bug From a while back. Floating head with a floating gun and no body. Thought that was fixed. Guess not.

Anyway, has anyone seen any of these bizarre things happening or other bizarre things?

I had the grenade problem. They'll work fine for a while, but then it'll be 1 out of 2 that won't deal any damage. Fulfilling the "kill 100 mobs with grenade" with dysfunctional grenades is a pita.

Also, when I use hoarfrost, sometimes my grenade receives the hoarfrost power, and when i kill a mob with a nade, 3 exploding snowballs are launched. Not sure if related, but definitely correlated.

my nades were made in China, every so often , a dud .

the grid emergencies are also flawed as the inquisitor wanders all over the place and sometimes cannot be found. as well as the grid and bugs at these roadsides ( their aggro range needs a fix )

a lot of out of phase / in phase stuff going on . not really problematic however

One time, l saw Hellbugs near by me, l would shoot them but they would be standing like almost they acknowledged that l wasnt there, this was in a major ark fall were it was very laggy and l would take hits everywhere so this might have been the cause of it which was a Major Ark fall hive matron, there was too many players.

*Waves to Ryu!* I've noticed the nades thing mostly with my Demolitionist (its really bad with the explosive you can stick to walls about 40% of the time it either never goes off or does and does 0 damage). I think it might be a latency issue--especially if there are a lot of people/enemies crammed into one area. I use a lot of status grenades and its really obvious when they go off and do nothing. As for the phasing thing, well... At least on FF14, when that happens it's usually PC bots that are using scripts to auto level. But as far as I can tell, since the servers are separate here, then its likely just some of Original Defi's merging instance/shard problems shining through. This will probably be more pronounced since things are a little more stable now (like loadouts working, FINALLY) and players are trickling back.

I haven't noticed the grenade thing, but I have noticed some random people spawning on me that are not friends, or clan members. I noticed that a few times today! I was wondering that earlier! Glad you mentioned that. I can verify that is happening!

I have noticed the random players showing up several times, most recently while doing parrabas problems. It was behaving as if 2 different phases had somehow merged. Like 2 alternate defiance universes, players were doing the daily at the same time on different phases and somehow someone must have crossed the streams, luckily no giant stay puft marshmallow man appeared, lol.

I would not say loadouts are fixed. Yes, they fixed one issue but another was created. Sometimes when changing loadout not all of the abilities appear for use.

This pretty much explains what I’m seeing. It’s like players in one phase are merging into the phase I am in. It’s random. I don’t think we ever understood the purpose of phasing anyway. This is the only game that I’ve played that uses this (The only one I am aware of anyway).

Yes, it’s very concerning. Let’s be clear for any dev reading this though. We are talking about players spawning on our toons as if they fast traveled to us and not a player spawning from lag. They are two very different things.
