It will NEVER be a real profession unless you are the ones making and selling the game. Or the ones holding the tourney and collecting the entry fees and sponsorship money.

The end product is advertising by the companies sponsoring the event, and entertainment to the viewers, just like any sporting event.

football works the same way, except they hire people to maintain their teams, pay their salaries and training, instead of leaving the individual athletes up to the tasks, because it's currently more porfitable. e-sports could eventually be doing the same thing.

Exactly, and the people watching never get paid. Just like the people playing games will never get paid to just play.

People will be paid to do anything if there is a way to profit from them doing it.

They already are, professional teams are often now cross-platform and multi-game. They'll have various management aspects to the team of people who are either ex-players or just good business people.

Your arguement is now totally different to what you have been bleating on about. You're now saying that spectators dont get paid to watch sports, how did I never notice that fact before?

    Just to re-iterate some things:

So, by your own words, what do professional 'sports' teams produce? You're verging on the edge of being unbelievable and losing your witty-troll status.

When you beat super mario back in the day what did you get as a reward for beating the game? Satisfaction.

Stop whining that you didn't get enough of a reward. If playing the game and beating a hard boss isn't its own reward to you, then you shouldn't be playing.

World select, and the opportunity to play it again. How much was Super Mario Bros when it first came out on the NES? $50? Nice number to remember for people complaining about lack of content at $60 lol

That would be awesome. If there really were paid positions to play games and not just in tourneys. I would be e-mailing resumes right now.

This group mob attacking wilks reminds me of those poor guys I left to the hellbugs and raiders yesterday when doing Waist Deep and Murder in Madera 3. Kinda felt bad about that then, sorta feel bad about this too.
