Oh look, it's one of those users who will love every buggy, poor-rated and overhyped game.
Games have released with bugs or glitches for as long as I can remember. The fact is, these bugs can be fixed over time and it isn't any real gamebreaking deal. Enjoy the game or don't, don't buy it without a little research and you won't complain as much ^.^.
Well if you talk about how much you dislike the game on the forums you're edgy, cool and objective.
If you dare mention that you actually like the game you're just an ignorant fanboy who can't see past the end of your nose.
Disagree and you'll be bullied into submission.
Perhaps you don't know what over-hyped means? They made it looks like a lot of features in this game were MUCH more fleshed out than they really are. Half this game is completely tacked on. Perhaps if you stopped feeling the need to blindly praise a game you wouldn't need to complain so much. No, I'm not putting a stupid face at the end.
You do realize you are doing what you are accusing others of doing yes? People say they don't like the game and fanboys come in and tell people their opinion is wrong.
Interesting don't you think? I realize your comment comes from needing to rationalize people's problems with an underdeveloped game so I do understand.
Honestly though people like you are killing this genre, this is barely even a game. It seems so thrown together it's nuts. Feel free to pretend it's amazing, you may have even sucessfully convinced yourself it is and that's ok, but spare us this nonsense when people point out the many problems the game has. You have to be a special kind of person to not see them honestly...
You can love the game, that's your opinion. To pretend people with complaints don't have a point is intentionally obtuse nonsense. They made an mmo without working chat. I mean come on take off the knee pads already!
So everyone should base their enjoyment of a game on what 'famous game sites' say about them. They should also only watch approved movies and tv shows, only drive the highest rated vehicles, only vacation in the top rated tourist locations and only read books with 4 star ratings. Makes perfect sense.
Why are people so determined to tell others what they should and shouldn't like?
- The show has already been filmed for an entire season and promised for at least 2 seasons to run so far.
- The game is promised at least 5 DLC in the current season not to include the free episode DLCs.
- The "final" boss who is not the final boss but the final for this 2 weeks prior to show launch very deliberately shows that it is "to be continued"...
- In the making of defiance show on syfy they talked quite a bit how Nolan's trip from San Fransisco to ST Louis/Defiance is specifically scripted into the show and the game...
it's not a "finished" game because it is a series with regular update content much like a TV show... because it is a TV show. There is plenty of advertised and inferred/implied evidence to show the game is not meant to be "finished" and they potentially have all those episodes ready to go and launch as it comes out exactly how the show has already done. Theese 2 weeks are just the time it takes nolan to go from San Fran to St Louis, it hasn't even really started yet.
So they advertised that the game would have all these wonderful features yes? Did they say it would be in the first season release? Given that this is a MMO that has promised content updates, then I have no problem with waiting for those updates to hit. Yes, games now adays are being released quite half assed and normally have DLC tacked on. Why do games keep doing this? Well one theory is the DLC is added because it can't be pirated, the other is the developers simply run out of time due to publisher pushyness.
Fact is, this game is still a game. People play it every day and enjoy it for hours on end. You have the hardcore bunch that rushed through, trying to be the number 1 person and have run out of content. I am not defending this game and the fact is, you payed your 60, you got more than five hours of game play then I say congrats, you have gotten more time than most games provide now adays. It is a forum and you are welcome to your opinion but you still shouldn't question people's opinions because they aren't in your own view set.
The Purple Quest Pistol is actually really good, when you add a Magazine Mod to it, its actually better than most Assault Rifles.
I'm glad you agree and were able to see the flaw in your logic. Could you stop praising lame releases? Or at least stop pretending everyone how realizes how lame the game is has something wrong with them? I'd settle for that. I won't tell you are wrong for liking half baked "mmos", I'll just say you are incredibly easy to please.
No problem. My advice is avoid the hipster posts where you make excuses as to why people don't like the game and you should be ok. I mean the game has glaring issues and while you are entitled to your opinion, pretending anyone with problems is "just trying to be edgy and cool" makes you look really foolish.
Again, some people are easy to please and that's ok. There are people who defended Hellgate London, it happens. Just don't be surprised when not everyone agrees. Glad I could help.
I like the pistol. Bear in mind that I really didn't use pistols until I got this one. It's a fully automatic pistol for starters. Secondly, with the right mods, it can be pretty stable when fired. I use it as a secondary when I want to use a sniper rifle as a CQC situational weapon. The ammo reserve is a bit shallow IMO. If you haven't sold it, try it.
It's a shame that a lot of people are seeing the game as 'finished' when they beat whoever the final guy (Nim or something) is when they get there. I'm miles short of that (I believe) as I'm trying to enjoy the journey rather than rush to the destination, and perhaps if people DO just focus on the destination then (as is their right I guess) then they may feel the game is a bit short.
There's a kind of locust ethic to many players these days. Turn up as fast as possible, gorge on the content they like, demand more and then move on. It's one of the reasons that the game needed to be B2P as at least that way Trion get a bit of money and can try/hope to lure people back every few months for a binge/purge on a DLC. It'll be a shame (and seems a big short sighted) if a lot of people quit within the first month when there's two big (reportedly) patches and the tie in's with the series that hasn't started yet within that time frame. We can see how the game looks on the first of June as a real test...
It's all good guys the game will be better in a couple of months..../facepalm
The many people who are disappointed aren't locusts, they expected a much more complete game.
Oh grow up.
I beat all the main, side and episode missions in the first 3 days! I beat nim with a damn BMG! This is an MMO not halo.. if you dont have the skills 343 isnt going to come around and say "aww.. well everyone should have recon in halo 3" no.. if you have the skills you get the title. the devs wont make it easy for you.. whats the point of a game if its easy? enjoy the challenge and stop crying.. you should have waited a few more seconds after killing nim to put up a thread about your immature whining because then youd realize how silly you are, i can understand complaining about PVP balancing and whatnot.. but this? congratulations! you beat nim.. now get your (probably about lvl 300) butt to lvl 5000! oh? nim was hard? heres all your money back... oh? he called you names and was going to end your life with a terra spire? heres some more money and the best shields in the game.. obviously you need them.
lol at OP...gold weapon?? this isn't call of duty
Show me where the bad game touched you.
I'm not entirely certain whether your intention is to hate on this game until it fails (ha, could take a while) or just to attack people who like the game. You believe that this MMO is not complete, but in the same breath attack it for adding content? This game is designed to last years, not weeks. It is designed to run alongside a tv series that hasn't hit the public yet. They released the game to show people the world, get them interested in the tv series, and to prime them for the coming content.
Am I a fanboy? Sure. Whatever. I don't care what you want to label me.
Morrowind's still my favourite game of all time, but sure, I'm a Defiance fanboy because that helps you create your us and them fantasy.
I like this game. I look forward to how the game will evolve.
As a longtime veteran of mmo's I know that there's never an "ending" but in Defiance there's a definite end to the story missions. Challenges may be content but I don't play mmo's for this sort of stuff. I'll play a good racing game for racing or a good shooter for PvP. That doesn't mean that I'll ignore those things in this game but truth be told that's not why I'm here. I completely sympathize with OP, he managed to burn through ALL the storyline content and missions in a little over a weeks time and for an mmo that's a little messed up. And he also has a legitimate complaint about the reward for completing the last mission. But then again I've been pretty disappointed in most of the mission rewards which is usually a few hundred scrip and a mod for weapons I never use.
How do you get to the end of the game with 6K scrip? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with it except let it accumulate into larger and larger piles.
1st off yes the mission was brill, I loved it didn't find it as hard as your self tbh, but was fun that being said this is by far the end mission :/.
just look at your map there are many areas to be opened up yet many more missions being added to game with massive dlc packs.
when the tv show starts they will start adding new content opening up new areas, this game has been made to run side by side a tv show.
so most of the content wont open up until its at stages of the show where its ready to be released.
as far as I no they have a 1 year plan for content release so hold on to your hat the content is coming.
until then there are many things to have fun with in game or do wotever while u wait for it.
the 1st content dlc patch is coming next week.
I for one am looking farward to all the new stuff coming as I myself are running out of things to do I have done all the main missions and all side missions and just have a few achievements left to get in game but I am still enjoying running about killing tbh :/ each to the own :)
So many people in rush to white knight for the game fail to read and understand that OP is talking about his disappointment with the rewards for beating Nim Shondu which is actually quite a tough fight.
...
Where did this sort of mentality that the game is over when you finish the "final" quest or beat the "final" boss? Did people just up and ****ing quit when they beat GSB in RIFT before RoS came out? What? This mindset vexes me to no end.
As for the rewards for beating Nim: did you not feel anything after having to put in so much effort, and then finally overcoming him? The feeling of accomplishment is far more rewarding than 500 scrip and an epic weapon. Is Nim difficult? At the very least he's more difficult than anything else in the game currently. But he's a story quest boss, games don't hand out the very best loot for that kind of thing. You got exactly what you would get in any other kind of online game. A welfare epic. Congrats.
EDIT:
@Technodude I'll white knight against pissed off whiny kids all day. However, if someone wants to levy constructive criticisms in a well thought out post, more power to them, I'd probably even agree with some of the points they make.
"OMG how dare you feel that way about this game! you are so wrong SO SO SO WRONG IN EVERY WAY" -Defiance fanboys .... don't worry you're not the only one who feels that way. Im pretty much bored with the game. I think i'll only be playing the episodes because of the show. I feel it was a waste of 60 bucks.. Because this game is not worth 60 bucks at all
After beating the final boss in Skyrim I could just keep playing. I could go hunting bears or explore caves and ruins or whatever but if there's no reason to do these things, ie a mission or quest tied to them what's the point? An mmo shouldn't run out of story content this fast.
Only means Trion didnt pay enough to have those hack writers give them 4 more imaginary points. Honestly, those "famous" sites are written by mouth breathers trying to get a real job by posting an article a week so they can say 10 years journalism experience on their resume.
The last boss fight is about 600% harder than any other fight in the game. He uses tactics that are not human, not even cyborg like he is supposed to be. He moves like a hologram, his speed is way too fast and most of the fight your shots pass right through him. Then after the hell you go through they pat you on the back and say way to go, here is some crap.
If the final fight is going to be this hard there should be a proper reward, or at least make the boss easier or make it a group fight. It pretty much is a group enemy anyway.
Also lets remember that on login there is a message that says to finish the missions before the show starts. Is that even possible for more than say 5-10% of players? I feel like were set up to fail unless we bash our heads against that boss over and over until we win. And to the ppl that say they beat him in 1 try? LIARS. No video proving this has been posted. Just a bunch of lying trolls saying they did.
Was hunting bears part of the story line of skyrim? apples and oranges here.
Look at map, see all those side quests, go do them.
Took me 20m to beat boss... super easy when you find out his attack pattern. A ground pounder works wonders.
