there is a possibility there very busy to reply and trying to get or getting the server back on and for the people that dont know if you have friends on xbl in australia and your in the uk or europe you can join them i found this out today with one of my friends in australia
I'm pretty sure the person posting on twitter is not really responsible for getting servers online.
And even if that were the case, a short "We are aware of Xbox users having problems connecting to the servers and are investigating. Thank you for your patience." most likely will not hinder the effort to bring the servers back online too much.
