Game needs a global (text only) chat channel badly.
Am I the only one who feels the game could use a global/zonewide chat channel? or at least one that lets you talk with anyone in the same zone your in (EG if you use it in Madera anyone in the madera zone can hear you). I don't know about you, but for this being a mmo, it barely has even basic communication features, most games like this at least have some form of a global chat channel. I mean sure alot of people might troll on it, but at least it can be semi-entertaining.. or maybe more entertaining than the game itself is at times. I dunno I go in game and the world just feels dead due to no global chat or anything of the sort. I loved the chat channels in Rift like level 1-29, 30-59 then lv 60, made the game feel populated since you could always find people to chat with. I think it'd help defiance alot imo.

It'll be Area Chat. Not global. It's mentioned in the patch notes I believe.

    Marin, Sausalito..etc...etc...

Well thats a good start imo. Might make the game not feel so empty, I can't wait. I am a bit of a chatbug, I never shut up hell in Rift I used to just talk to people for hours in the channels I mentioned, and I enjoyed it.

    I'm the same way.

I noticed with a friend, that he had his voice chat off, it also muted all the chat box stuff as well.

I was chatting with him, and he wasn't getting anything.

But, that's mentioned in the patch notes as getting fixed.

I just thought that was for groups and what not when you mute players.

Incidentally, how do we enable area voice chat? Supposedly it's off by default.

That, I have no clue. I've never heard anyone on VOIP via Area chat.

Judging by how much of a pain in the *** alot of the other stuff is to do with the ****ty ui we have expect it to be buried in there somewhere behind 10 menus or something, and oh, expect it to not save half the time as well on the pc version. *grins* Also in total randomness: Why does honeycomb cereals taste so damn good dry?

I searched all over the UI, couldn't find anything. The UI isn't bad once you get used to it. But the Ring of Things approach is, while stylishly neat, it's a PITA.

As far as Honeycombs, they taste damn good dry or milked.

    xD
