If I recall correctly, Rift was super tiny when it was first released as well. This one should grow as time goes on.
Since very first post i have been on topic that is 'discussion about map size of Defiance'. And i don't see where i insulted you, unless calling on your bull about FFXI being a failure and 20+ zones is small is an insult? maybe you shouldn't make up stuff then and no one will call you out on it?
So 3 quick things:
1> As previously stated, you don't "outlevel" a zone so the entirety of the map is always a viable zone, whereas games like WoW, you would outlevel a zone and go to another and never have a need to revisit an previous zone as it has become obsolete to your character.
2> The development of this game was also constrained by the development of the TV show - you have to consider that they share the same universe so there can't be a unilateral decision made about parts of the world, as such creating more zones for this game most likely has more complexity to it than other games.
3> Even if there are only 5 zones (Mount Tam, Madera, Marin, Sausalito, SF) at launch, I don't understand why that is really even a big concern, given the nature of these games allows for expansions to the world. Sure, I could see it if it wasn't an MMO, but as an MMO, we all know that new zones are always being added.
And you think it won't happen once the map size in Defiance will increase? i am sorry but this problem is inevitable in MMOS once new zones are added.
Only difference is that in games like GW2 which decided to release with lot of content it is happening now and in case of Defiance it will happen in later months.
You can only delay this problem for so long.
No you did try to pass your opinion as a fact. FFXI wasn't an amazing success but it wasn't a failure either on consoles. Infact at release it had more console player than PC players till it was launched in western market.
As usual you keep making stuff up.
Yep we should just take your word for everything you say. You have failed to back up anything you have said so far with any relevant information. Care to show us any legitimate source which says FFXI was a failure on PS2? even though your earlier statement was that FFXI was a failure in general. Do you even know what you are arguing about anymore since you backpeddle a lot.
Alright let's move on beyond the trolling topic. We can continue to discuss the map. Also i saw someone posted that during a livestream, they mentioned they will be adding new areas between SF and st. Louis. I hope this is coming true soon.
