you get more content if you preorder on steam
Already got mine off Green Man Gaming.
I dunno, I am loving the steam preorders if they hit all 3 tiers. But you can also get this game off of greenmangaming for 20.00 off. Deluxe edition for 80.00 does sound great. I am really on the fence.
I did pre order on steam becouse of this epic rewards. If they will be unlocked we will have extra 2 vehicles and extra +10 inventory slots. It's something to fight for :P
My preorder stays where's it at, There's no UE on steam.
As for the steam community, you can tie your game to your steam profile once you get the game installed
Gamestop here
I know its listed as a DLC but you can't add to cart yet. I think that has something to do with the fact that if it does hit the 3rd reward tier on steam you will get a discount on the season pass. So I am sure they are waiting to see before they price it so they don't charge people that pay for it before reward tier 3 more and have to go back and refund a little off each one or something like that.
Personally I like tracking my time played on my steam games so I'm getting it on steam.
Steam is currently only at 14% for the first unlock, do you think it will hit all the unlocks?
Honestly, its 50/50 I think. Most preorders happen the weekend before the release and being that it went up on the 5th of this month on there that means it has an average increase of 2.3% a day as of right now. Won't know till it hits the spike. I think and would guess would be this weekend while the beta weekend is going and like I said the last 4-5 days before release it should start moving fast. However we will see I am just using what I know from being a former Gamestop store manager for 5 years and how reserves worked at a store level.
I am honestly not sure why everyone is pissing on each other about where to buy the game? To each his/her own. The devs still get the profits from the other retailers selling the game, except other retailers offer some extra incentives so why not go for it? For me I will be getting the game on Steam, since I have most of my games on Steam regardless and Steam's community hub as well as Big Picture allows you to play the game with a controller(not saying you can't without steam). You also track your gametime and are able to take screenshots. The extra tier unlocks we get are also a plus so why not?
Yea, they did it with Tomb Raider and some others. They basicly only do it on large titles they know they will get a return on because basicly I am sure they have an agreement that states if they sell x copies Trion will give them extra content or either they worked out with Trion if they sell x copies they will buy the content to drive sales. Normally in this setups the first tier is the big one to hit and the others are less since its harder to get more after the first goal since you already have such a large base of users with it. Normally the people that know they want it then you start to get the people that are on the edge and get pushed over by a friend or they are kind of interested and go "well at least I get more free stuff."
The other possibility is that everyone else is just jelly that Steam managed to get such a deal with Trion for extra bonus stuff for pre-order so late after everyone has already pre-ordered elsewhere like a month ago and now they don't want others to get those extra bonuses and are trying to scare people from getting it on Steam.
In the end it honestly doesn't matter because everything you get is for the start. The weapons, atv, challanger, the 4x4 all the stuff you will get something better from a quest, drop or bought and are in game anyways just with different looks. Honestly the only thing that even makes the steam rewards worth a damn is the inventory slots you get if they get all 3 tiers and the discount on the season pass. You figure between the inventory slots you get from the steam rewards the deluxe and the ark hunter codes you get +21 inventory slots. Which is actually when you think about it kind of crazy, true just more stuff to manage but thats more time exploring and less time running back to sell or what not.
22:02 GMT march 11th 2013 steam pre orders for defiance is at 14% into stage 1.
you will be lucky to get stage 1 for launch day.
most of the pc player base has either prepurchesed digital directly from trion or get a physical copy from a shop.
steam started to late for its prepurchase. plus its not advertised propperly yet
Yea, but like I said I am sure once tier 1 is done they actually need fewer people for the following tiers and like I have said it will pick up this weekend with beta and I am sure and then the week before release. However its not like it matters if steam users get stuff they get it. If they don't they don't, at least they have a chance to get more.
Honestly, I looked at the UE and wasn't impressed at all, you get the 7 day bonus from the normal version the other crap from the deluxe and then the extra title and then a season pass and a bunch of stuff like the hellbug figure and bag and stuff which honestly will sit gather dust and won't care about in the end.
I would rather just get the deluxe with the 30 day bonus and just buy the season pass and save 10 bucks and don't get crap I am going to have sit around and take up space or throw out later and I could really care less about any extra title which honestly there are most likely better title in game you can get.
It's generally thought to have originated in Hamburg, Germany, though there is some dispute depending on who you talk to.
Well, to be honest I pre-ordered early on Steam because it's either you get bonus prize set 1, 1&2, or 3. I do not really want Rift to be honest and that Growler was calling to me much more than the truck...
Steam for me. The (possible) discount on season pass sounds good. Even if we don't reach tier3, at least we still get to keep all the bonuses+Exclusive weapons (sniper rifles)+Dodge Challenger. If I want hellbug statues, I'll just bid for it from eBay.
Most of my clanmates switched to Steam too because of the season pass discounts.
Too bad Steam didn't advertise this early enough. But there's still 3 more weeks before launch.
march 15 friday

also just to remind people
weapons / shields for pre order is just "fluff" items.
you get sniper rifles right at the start of the game anyway
