i can't get in to cronkite bunker. it goes to set it up but always fails.
every time trial adds about 3 seconds to my finish time.

Are you f..*beep* kidding me? Weapons and vehicles are not truly bugged? Well tell that to those ppl who have lost weapons just by logging out. Tell that to the ppl who have lost weapons just by zoning (me being one of those)... tell that to the people who's rollers / runners has been reset...
I do appreciate that you are trying to help - but in order to truly help, you have to realize that there IS a problem and not just say that none are truly bugged. :)
You do of course realise that not ALL players encounter bugs...the bugs are quite random. Some players go through story missions / side missions without any hazzle while they instead experience lost weapons, rollers resets etc.
Really - just stop saying that you are a living proof that there are no bugs around and that it all comes down to being impatient...that's just ignorant. :)
Im talking about the people screaming about their weapons not leveling when they are clearly at max level. As for disappearing weapons, this is a glitch caused by multiple phases. For instance, a person does something with their weapon, then when they switch phases, it technically leave the weapon in the last one, then the player moves to the next phase without it. its strange, and not sure how they will fix that one. Its more of an Error, less of a real Bug.
Can you please elaborate what the difference is between error and bug in this game? :) Also - keep in mind..the way I lost my weapon was this:
I zoned into Shadow Wars. I had the sniper rifle in hand. I saw an enemy, shot at him with sniper rifle. Switched to AR to finish him, TRIED to switch back to sniper rifle immediately after his death, but it was gone.... Where did I switch phase there?
Errors are problems of contradicting code, bugs are unexpected occurances. errors are usually worse. As for your sniper rifle, i can see this happening when changing world cells.
What i'm saying is people shouldn't be so careless when logging out of the game. I dont Alt + f4 or go "Exit Game" i log out first, then close the game. haven't had a weapon dissapear yet.
I appologize if any of my comments come off a bit arrogant, its 3 AM and i really don't like rude comments (Like 7 out of 10 comments on the defiance forums are rude).
I'm not sure what you mean by "patience will solve 90% of all problems". If you are saying patience but really mean the bugs can be worked around you are missing the point. A bug you can circumvent with a workaround is still a bug.
As for the complaints about the game, they are valid. Some of the pursuits require fairly difficult tasks to be done or significant time has to be invested to unlock them and when people do spend the time on doing them and they do not receive credit they have reason to be annoyed because they now have to do it again with the knowledge that they might not get credit a second time.
I am sure the developers are working hard to fix these bugs but their primary focus is on game breaking bugs, functional bugs will have a lower priority because the game doesn't grind to a halt when a pursuit can't be earned... it's annoying but that's all.
First of all, Thank you for not coming out with a rude comment (not in the mood hehe).
Second, im not saying there are NO bugs in the game, just saying that many of them can be avoided or repaired on your own. For instance, say you see a Tank stuck in a wall on Battlefield 3... that's a bug, but its not going to happen a lot, and its not something the devs are going to rush to fix. Another example from defiance, the Project Aegis I... Simply stop thinking that they are instantly interactive, and instead thing you can only use them out of combat, instantly it goes from a bug to a challenge.
And you are right, the devs are working on the game breaking ones, as for the functional ones, this post is for getting around them so people can get farther into the game.
Trust me, I've played enough MMOs to know this stuff is basically to be expected. I'm not going to go rampaging around the forums over it. Usually will come back later and if it doesn't work then, possibly report it. Otherwise I will usually just skip it until I see or hear about a fix. Probably wouldn't have said much of anything if it weren't for this thread, but I suppose there's something of value in sharing experiences and offering advice.
And with Aegis yes I know you have to kill everything to activate the turrets, but there is a bug that stops that from happening even if you do so. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but I have run into it a few times where I have cleared all the enemies around the 4th turret 3-4 times in a row (including the Hulker) and it still won't let me activate it. I guess it's possible there was a single Skitterling I missed or something but if there was it was no where near the turret area.
The think about world cell's is the game is made up of Hundreds of them, the boundaries are invisible, and (for all we know) could be changing. I still feel that its an error involving some kind of phase shift. hence when people put an item in the Salvage Matrix, then they move phases, and it leaves the weapon in the previous phase. Maybe i should test this theory more... hmm
Yup that is true.. you dont experience it when travelling.. but when this being in a shadow war, at one specific place in a farm, I don't think I was phasing there.. but that might be the cause of many ppl who lost their weapons. Be careful of testing mate.. loosing a weapon aint fun :/
Quit feeding the troll.
Was not aware there was a bug that caused your gear to disappear if you didn't log out properly. I've been doing it anyways. ^^; Would suck if a power outage caused me to lose a rare or irreplaceable weapon. -_-
Anyways, only bug I can recall running into was when Nolan froze in the mine when doing the episode mission. Abandoned and went back in only to realize I still went in to the same instance, had to wait some amount of time for it to finally clear and reset.
For those wondering, I disabled the turrets and cleared the room before reviving him, so second time around I made sure they were both alive and moving before disabling the last turret.
Experiences may vary. Some people seem to get through some of the bugged stuff while others get hung up on it. Coding is funny like that.
Right now a couple of bugs I keep hitting relate to the races, which keep adding between 2-5s to my finish time. I expect a lot of these kinds of bugs and some of the stuff in the tech forum will be fixed with the mega bug fix patch coming next week.
@Bornhald You have a problem, Say it... This is a helpful thread and you have a problem
@Ghost MLP NPC bugs are not the Missions fault, those are a problem with the code of the NPC interfering with some other code. (in other words, pretty random)
@shanks If i had to guess, i would say that is caused by one of three things, Lag, The Timer starts too early, or the duration between each second is more then 100ms... Not really sure what made this happen, it wasn't happening during the first few days.
Yeah I hear you OP.
Im one of those "lucky" guys who seems to float through the digital world with minimal issues. I had Microsoft Vista from the start and never had a single issue with it.
Ive played the most buggy games ever, only to have the slightest of issues and none were game breaking.
Ive played games with the worst customer services, and never had to use it. In fact, I cant think of a single time where ive needed customer support...really on anything even non game and non computer related stuff. Not bad on the gaming though considering ive been playing mmo's since the 90's.
Ive had a few missions sort of bug out, nothing a log out then log in didn't fix. I guess for some that's a game breaking bug though.
*shrugs*
some people are prone to digital issues I guess. Hell I didn't even have lag, log in issues, patcher issues, slow download times...
As someone who lterally only has had the Aegis BUG out of the many listed on this site I feel lucky.
However Youngwings youre the most arrogant prick Ive seen on here period. You say the point is to help but everytime someone has expressed a problem you either imply theyre stupid or incompatent and that their problem was just that and not an issue with the game. In the case of Aegis saying this despite TRION, you know that company that makes the game, has recognized it as having bugs causing it not complete.
If you actually had approached this with responses along the lines of " Ill try and help get past the bug if I can" instead of a generalization that people cant get past the bugs due to being stupid you may have gotten somewhere and provided the community service your claiming but as it stands your basically bring an arrogant know it all with no helping intentions.
I had the bug with the Project Aegis turrets.
a) If the turrets flash with a shiny ego overlay, like your vehicle does, you will be able to interact with them once the enemies are cleared.
b) If the turrets do not have the shiny ego overlay, you will not be able to interact with them at any time.
If you are faced with b) join a competitive pvp match. I recommend competitive pvp since they are so short. On finishing the match the turrets should be reset to a).
Logging out and logging in did not fix this bug for me, only joining a competitive pvp match.
This is fairly common, even in the randomly spawned missions like Weapons Shipment. Frequently you'll pick up the key, but be unable to unlock the box with the Reaper in it. Usually all you have to do is run far enough away that the banner across the top of the screen fades out, then run back in order to fix it. It doesn't always correct it, and even though you can't get the Reaper, someone else can run up while you're doing the event and steal it from you.
To the OP: There are numerous bugs and other things that were detailed in the Alpha and Beta tests that didn't get corrected before release.
- Main story missions that bug out.
- Weapons that vanish from the Salvage Matrix while being upgraded.
- Gear and vehicles that show no stats and thus cannot be compared to equipped items.
- Roadside missions that do not despawn after completing them, and at times will not give you credit for the event.
- Arkfall boss stages that fail to complete after killing the boss, and thus do not give credit for the event.
- Loadouts that are bugged and require you to exit the selection screen numerous times in order to update gear, often requiring you to do this for all 5 items in each loadout.
I could list quite a bit more, some of which they've addressed in the preliminary patch notes for tomorrow. None of them are 'forced' as you stated, they're simply bugs that are often not predictable or reproducible on demand in some cases, and may not affect everyone equally.
Stating that they're 'forced' puts the blame on the player instead of the developer, which is a completely idiotic assumption, and an injustice to the players and testers who told Trion about these things for weeks, if not months in some cases. Small wonder that some of them would take offense to that blanket assumption, given that it's completely spurious and lacking any basis in reality or truth.
And here is the person who kills all forums... If anyone is arrogant, it is you. Many of the "bugs" people encounter are easily avoided or fixed... And many of the bugs that some people encounter are forced bugs, as in these people have to be doing something out of the ordinary to have them happen. If you have only encountered the Aeigis "Bug", then you have no right to say that other "bugs" are unavoidable. I have not once said a person is stupid for encountering a bug, i simply imply that these bugs are avoidable and fixable through a bit of work.
If you have nothing productive to add to this forum, then get the hell away from my thread. I am fed up with idiots that only post on a forum because the feel like being immature, Self-Righteous ****s who think, by making an immature comment, they will fix the person they are directing it towards. As for being a "Know it all" I have finished the game, I am going to be a game developer, and i obviously have some experience in this matter.
So much is explained now.
Youre "going to be a developer" that makes the attitude make perfect sense.
I never said some these arent unavoidable, lol. Im not even going to keep feeding you I said my piece, good luck helping people with the attitude buddy. O:-)
That may be true, But to be honest, i haven't met a person who has played as many games as me. But what i mean by experience, is im going to Full Sail university to get a Bachelors in Game Development. I have been working with these kinds of issues and ideas for the past year and a half, not just playing games. Im not saying no one has experiences with the bugs, im just saying i have experience with workaround and fixing.
