PC (nor any system) is actually getting "shorted". Everybody seems to think "closed beta" equates to "early VIP access"; it doesn't. PC has already had 2 other PC-only beta, simply because PC rigs have varying hardware setups (whereas consoles do not, each console has one standard configuration). In "closed betas", and time frames for beta are in place to find bugs, glitches, weak spots, compromises, exploits, etc. It's not a "fun stroll through the wilderness", it's not a "great, my friend's here, let's go dance in the NPC camp and goof around"... it's pretty much stress-testing and actually HOPING things will break so they can be fixed for the official launch.
I'm not attempting to flame you, just bring logic/sense to the *whole* argument from/by everybody. Most games that release on console don't even have beta, they usually just have demos. If there wasn't need of stress-testing, etc, there probably wouldn't even be betas... and if PCs all had the same exact hardware configuration and everything ran perfect, they probably wouldn't have a beta either. "Closed Betas" are just a small stretch up from Alpha... their main intention is to help the developers dot the I's and cross the T's... not all too much more. It's not like anybody's getting more of a head start over anybody else... where this is a closed-beta, EVERYBODY's date will be wiped before official launch. :)
