How can the game have influence on the TV show when it will be released for the platforms, xbox, PC and PS3 but no cross-platforming is planned?
In that case I guess there will be two platforms, who are missing a feature...
Any thoughts?

Hey welcome to the forums!
I think you need to look broader than platforms, even if there are 3 separate platforms there will also be separate servers per platforms. Look at it this way (examples), at the end of season 1 in TV series a major event happens this event will impact the game with a content update. Giving you access to new content related to what happened in the series.
Now the other way around, you meet character x from the PC game, lets call him John. John is a fairly common character in the game but up until the major event had no reason to come into the series. AS players help John with the content after the season 1 content they provide him a reason to go to the town of Defiance (in the series in Season 2).
While I wouldn't exclude players have actually options to choose I would at this point (with very little specific knowledge) not speculate on this. One way I can see it going is provide player base with options, and the most picked option impacts the TV series. I personally dont see this working out but who knows.
So to sum it up you need to see it as this:
- TV Series and Game start at the same time with the same content.
- TV Series has the final and something happens, this something impacts the content in the game.
- The game continues, players play the content.
- Start of season 2, the conclusion of the game content is likely to be a starting point of the TV SEries.
Now you can't go too far with this, because you want to keep it understandable for none gamers, or gamers who don't watch the TV series. See it as two types of media living and more importantly evolving in the same universe.
i still think the whole idea is amazing. will be very interesting to see how the whole thing plays out.
I think what Tabulator is getting at is this:
If there are 3 platforms that are unable to interact (we'll avoid the seperate servers within those), and something like the season finale happens where an event is presented with an escalated scenario, and the PC players ace every turn of events, the ps3 players choose a differant way to complete the event, and the Xbox players choose yet a 3rd way to get through the events; How will the community feel involved if only 1 series of events is chosen to help pilot the next season?
I hope I didnt lose anyone with the "if's" lol. However, I think the answer is going to be simple: Excellent writing makes it all possible to "blend" the experiances. Think of it this way: We here on the PC servers are in the San Fransisco area, and we know of the existance of the PS3 and Xbox people, but we cant ever find em, so our monumental encounter would just not be an isolated event, even if it changes the entire zone. So while 3-however many servers (pc, ps3 or Xbox) fail the event entireally, the servers that complete the events can be viewed as a large front line defense campaign.
This can be done and explained with smaller scenarios as well. Escort campaigns can be explained in that it's not just any single person (even if it's explained in game that you must escort Nolan and a dozen servers fail), but a team dignitaries, or demolitionists, etc.
I will be interested to see how it all plays out as well, but these are my guesses on how it will be handled without breaking immersion.
there was an announcement aswell that there will be some kind of contest later or after season one to have your character show up in season two
Shadinaxx got exactly what I mean. Thanks for the clarification. But anyway I'm fine with the answer Kalbuir gave to me. I'm trying to understand the whole system and it could be that I will ask in future many of this obvious or stupid questions. Glad to see that here are already people who are friendly and helpfull. It's not often the case ;) I think you know what I mean, forum-junkies who thinks it's insulting for the community to ask questions like this (because it's written somewhere).
Hope we will have a good time in the forums and later in the game.
Which you all a nice day!

Dont sweat the asking questions. Trolls havent settled in yet, I think Jellybean has been spraying under the bridge on a daily basis(with a flamethrower if I recall) lol.
I hope there's more contests than the "highest frag rate" style of contests, get a whole guild mentioned, and the guild gets to choose (within reason) who their MVP is. Sort of a; "This is Rayni, from the merc group that calls themselves Static, who led them to victory against the hellbug patriarch..." etc
For obvious reasons, I hope that the devs have a clause that says they reserve the final right to determine alternate winners based on appropriate content of guild names and character names. We all would not like to watch a show of this caliber announce; "This is Inurface420, from the merc group that calls themselves STDs are BOP, who led them to victory against the hellbug patriarch..."
I would be rather upset, lol
I think Star Wars a influence for the show for sure !
That is a good thought, I was actually thinking they had some kind of timed event where there was a certain event that needed to be done in a time limit. That way it splits it into a more individual basis and they would eventually pick the person who was able to complete so and so objectives in such an amount of time. haha and yea they would probably need to be appropriately named.
