You seem to forget about all the random quests spawning at street corners.
I was playing with some friends, what we did was doing each quest that appeared in sight while we finished the story line.
In the end it makes a huge difference if you skip everything and try to rush through the game or if you actually play it.

takes 20-30 of those per "level" if that is all you are doing so again i question the validity unless theres some undocumented massive xp boost for being in a party

Fyi people hate the gun b onus's. If you can't understand that people want more damage. Not some crappy multiplayer that puts total damage up 10 hits. We want damage to go up.

You get about 3k exp per random event, most of which take a few seconds (literally in some cases, I've got the exp for driving over a handful of skitterlings, jumping out and bursting a warrior with an LMG for a matter or moments), I tend to get 20-30 EGO per Co-op mission as well. I'm at around 500 EGO with only 25 ish hours played, and I'm lazy as hell and have spent a fair amount of time trying to find the gate to tranquility rather than actively pursuing... well anything.

they don't give that much xp bonus. you might get that much total from kills.

and you wont be finishing dark matter ones in 30 seconds that's for sure. mutants and hellbugs are nothing.

i also dont believe your 20-30 ego per co-op either because i just did explosions 101, started at a freshly dinged bar, ended with it 2/3 full. it's like 70k xp to ding that bar.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of a laterally progressing, skill based, pixel perfect shooter?

There actually is a multiplier that increases base damage...
