If you're talking about Irisa it starts with her eyes (yeah yeah I know, awesome makeup) but her eyes...they seem larger than the rest of those that portray her race (or is that me?).
Then there's her attitude. Love a strong willed/minded woman!!

We better get dreads with the Castithans DLC race comes out

Yeah, that should have been pilot, not plot.

I'm not sold on the show. I know it's only the first episode, but it just feels shallow. Things that should be subtle are thrown in your face, some of the dialogue is campy (but not enough of it to make it that kind of show, just enough to be off-putting), and you really shouldn't have two original series that both start out the exact same way (guy travelling with daughter, ends up in weird town, becomes sheriff). Reminds me of all the MMOs that start with a shipwreck and getting washed up on a beach. It's not good, just easy.

Other SyFy shows, even single-seasoners, had far more compelling starts. I think the game and insanely massive marketing blitz will help keep a couple million viewers around through mid-season, but a show this expensive can't survive on just a couple million.

The whodunnit lasts only for a few seconds. But it doesn't matter anyway. There are more interesting things to get to... :D
