Population and other stuff

Population on PS3 feels very weak. I love this game its awesome. Is there some numbers on this or away in game to see how many players are online?

I honestly think they should reduce the cost on Rezzing.

there are some times when you get 20 at an arkfall. I think it may be the lack of in game communication we got the chat windows but I rarely see it used?

also have a question Is there central location like a town where everyone goes to buy/trade sell stuff and is there a way to craft things?

I really enjoy this game I cant wait to see what they do with the show vs game thing.

Well i understand what you're saying at times the number of people on seems a little low, ive gone through an arkfall with only 10 people. Also usually people tend to hang around where quick travel points are, one of the more populated ones that ive noticed was the iron-demon ranch.

First 2-3 days it had so many people everywhere. They might of lowered amount of people outside towns and arks cause server problems.

The servers have been expanded since release to allow more players online thus the server load has been spread out. And no MMo's dont allow players to see true numbers of those only not since the days of everyquest any way ..Blizzard use to use this info Against EQ in the start of the big MMo fights so everyone started hideing it now.

As for a big town or something nope sorry not as of yet we are still in the back woods pretty much of the game. As for talking and such not a real reason too unless you trying to tell some noob to get out of his car at arkfall or stop spamming aoe when you need the hellbugs to do damage.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if ps3 has the most shards/phases. We outsold pc for sure. Idk bout Xbox. But ps3 isn't low on pop.

That's probably me.

i think ps3 has a good pop, since Defiance is the only MMO available for consoles.

Don't forget DCUO. This is the second MMO of its kind on PS3. I play EST 7p to 7a usually and always find people around until about 3-4.

Actually 3rd. There's still Dust 514 even if ppl don't like it.

Actually its the fifth MMO now. Don't forget about Free Realms and also this fall Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn.

On the big main land you see many people doing missions. When i come to the south part of the main land where are the most later story missions and side missions, there are much less people you see. After i come to San Fran i see only people they doing Arcfalls. On all the missions i did there i see maybe 2 or 3 people running around. So the most people dont play that far and they stop with that game. Same with my friend.

The player base already goes down and there is one more that will leave - me.
I dont wanna play that ****ty bugged game anymore. Borderlands was much mor fun and you ever was exitet when you found a cool new gun. Here all guns are the same somehow. There is no reason to grind for guns when they are all the same! The little difference are so minor, that it dont makes a difference at all! I finish the game and fighting Nim with a green standard gun i found before.
The server stability is a joke and i get disconnected many times. It takes sometimes around 1 min when i open the map till i see something. When i restart a time trial then i am not on the quad or the race start and there are already 7 sec gone! Many times my PS3 completly freeze and i can only pull the power cable cause there is no other way to reset (hold down the power button dont work in this case). I did all the missions but many times they are bugged so that you cant complete it. I didnt found any orange gun in all my playtime (complete the game with EGO 500+) and now they make it more hard to get one cause they nerv the key drop. The chat system is a bad joke and no one use it. You see maybe one message per day....lol.
There are so many things that suck big *** that they scare all peeps away they want to try this game.
maybe i will check in some months how defiance is doing if its not dead, or maybe not. i have way better games to play for now and i dont want waste my time to fight against bugs and i dont mean the hellbugs...

i`m seeing vary little people online in the past few days . . . to day i only seen 3 . . .
I was playing for just a hour and i only seen 3 people , 2 where at a item box and 1 was on the map.

I've seen plenty of people today around arkfalls

Played on all versions of the game on EU server only.

Pc population > PS3 > 360

It's even worse on 360, impossible to play shadow wars, 15-20 players max during the arkfalls, and we find only few players when we travel on the map (top notch, crater are pretty dead, 2, 3 guys on the shop... )

On pc there are players everywhere, and probably 50+ players all the time at the arkfalls

the crafting is not available. would be cool but not yet

I'm pretty sure Defiance will be free with the PS+ in few months, and with it, it'll be overpopulated.
This is a perfect game for the PS+ interesting game for ps3 players + you can play it for months,
and $$$ for Trion with the dlc and the cash shop.

I'm us eastern time and usually on at off peak hours. I have yet to see it w/out a lot of people, and more often than not, at least one person from my friends list.

As much as I enjoy this game the population is bound to thin out due to the somewhat repetitive nature of the game. Casual gamers will suck it dry within a few days and then all that is left is sidequests and pursuits which only account for progression towards EGO which really doesnt mean that much. Once people realise this they either stay and grind those things out (and post patch story missions too) or stop playing until episodic content and dlc arrive.

Trion mean well and are trying really hard but without fanboy gogggles on (which I had for the first week) I can see that this gam offers very little in terms of longevity and will end up being a kind of cult game with a small hardcore following. I have faith that trion will come through with a lot of these issues and im willing to stick it out...but its already gone from being the only disc in my tray to filler in between games in less than 2 weeks.

Not sure what you mean when you say you see hardly anyone on. I see a lot of people on, even during the midnight to 3am hours. Between my friends list and my clan, I can usually find people to do just about anything with. Not to mention the quantity of other players I run across. Based on what I've been hearing and reading, PS3 has a higher population than the PC and is pretty close to the XBOX population. If you aren't seeing anyone, you are probably running story missions that are instanced or are questing in out of the way places. I'm sure you'll see the population as it is once the chats are fixed.

According to vgchartz it hasn't done as well on PS3 (their sales stats could be rubbish, for all I know). I love this game and wish more people would buy it!!

Last night (morning) at 2am EST, I believe I was the only person South of the Golden Gate. I had the pleasure of partaking in, and completing, a minor AF, entirely alone. Granted, it was just 3 waves of scrappers that I easily dispatched with the grill of a Challenger, but it was still pretty awesome being the sole citizen of San Francisco. LOL

i was corrected already, but thank you for correcting me again.

I too have felt like the only inhabitant of San Fran. I knocked out all my side missions and pursuits down there without ever seeing another soul. I even completed to Major Scrapper Arkfalls Solo. Learned how easy those ones really are.
