How much server downtime is acceptable these days?
if you pay for a game, you expect at least 90 % of the game to be running smoothly and maybe a few glitches now and then.
Maybe Trion released the game to soon?!?!.

well what i've seen from them is that their down time normally lasts 1 to 3 hours max

First time the servers are down since I'm started to play this game (PC) a week ago. Why complain about a MMO with no monthly fees when the servers are down? Yes, it is annoying but I know MMO's with montly fees that suffer a lot more of this type of issues.

Just wait till those shtakko servers are back online!

I have two complaints about the Servers being down. 1) The Server status forum has no entry about the Servers being down. Whether for maintenance, emergency repairs, patch in progress, etc. There is nothing. 2) In many of the MMOs I play or have played, there is a page on the MMO's Web Site that indicates Server Status. That would help when you try to run the client and connect to the Game. Is the failure to connect due to the Servers being down, or is there a network problem? If there was a Server Status Page, I could know what's going on quickly.

The Game is fun, and it is up most of the time for me. I would like more communication when they have taken it down. This one is more complicated than most by supporting three platforms (PC, X-Box, & PS2), and I appreciate the desire to fix problems as quickly as possible. But, you would think that they could spare one staff member for a little while to provide an update on the forums. Other MMOs even have a Community Manager tasked to this job.

Keep up the good work, but try to keep us better informed.

They do announce that the game will be down for so and so and in-game there is a message saying that the game will close (there is like 45min warning in-game)

Ok so lets go ahead and get this straightened out k?

Don't blame xbox....don't blame PS (even tho I think playstation is worthless..imo)...don't blame PC...in fact DONT BLAME ANYONE!!!! Its called BUGS!!!! Hell even WoW (yeah you know the MMO that looks like a cartoon and is so easy a 5 year old can master it?) after bein out for what like 5 or 6 years still has times where the servers will have issues and crash/have critical errors. welcome to the wonderful world of mmos and servers. ****ako happens got me? (yes I knw it was a terrible joke...) Its a new game, with new ideas, and ALOT of players. hell im surprised the servers havnt been crashing more often then they do know, in fact im surprised that they even bother to tell us that they are having problems (most MMO companies will wait 12-24 hrs before even saying "Oh yeah by the way we have server probs"). So pls stop complaining about the lil things. go get some lovin from ur wife or girlfriend, spend some time with your kids...or go finish off that box of twinkies you've been staring at this whole time...yeah im talking to you mr biggums. Personally, I don't care how long they take, why don't i care? cause eventually all this down time will lead to a better game which leads to a better gaming experience.

K, im done, you can go back to eating your twinkies mr biggums

Is it "normal" for a mmo to have problems at launch? Well I guess it is. Then again, its normal not to be happy that you cant play the game you paid for. I've played many mmo at launch, and unless this one was your first, you expected it.

But I think the main point that is not acceptable, is having no information whatsoever with what's happening. A dev and a single entry saying "we're sorry, we've encountered problems with the patch. We are working as far as possible, but we have no ETA right now" would go a long way. Ignoring the community does not.

I like the game so far, and I'd hate to see people go away because of this (it would be extreme though. I'm not letting that get in the way of enjoying the game)

i'll say it like the other guy said earlier....are you blind? they have a post in which they said that they were having probs, maybe if ppl wernt lazy and actually looked at it then you would retract this utterly WRONG sentence/semi-paragraph.

Ok angry got the better of me. For the record I did check the sever status and didn't see anything other than the patch thread. I didn't realize the downtime was in there. It would be a far smarter idea to put a status page in place for an mmo game like most other companies.

I've played plenty of mmo's, granted not at launch and apart from the odd few hours down time on one of them I've never had problems until this game.

As others have said I've paid 50 quid for this game and all other games I pay that much for I can play! Right now I have a 50 quid coffee coaster! The whole give it time as its launched excuse is starting to get really old, it's been almost two weeks and the game has been down more than up for me!

What really gets me angry is that my boosts are going to waste and I'm missing out on the daily and weekly challenges that are linked to the tv show. Hence why in a game that's linked to real time events downtime is a major issue! Are the developers going to give out free bits to cover this or change the boosts to online time seeing as that's quite rare at this time.

Anyway seeing as I can't play the game yet again I'll go watch the tv show now... Unless that's down, wonder if the emergency broadcast message will pop up though the show constantly to make it feel more like the game?

and yet incase you havnt noticed this game is an mmo and yet not like the ones you know. it isn't a typical mmo so don't xpect the typical things that you would usually get from one. plus im sure that they are planning on doing something of that nature in the future but for now they are tryin to actually make the game better...

Our team is working to resolve remaining issues around Patch 1.010. We apologize for the delay and will update again shortly.

There's a lot of I want FREE STUFF floating around. Seems the whining is more about getting things for free than actually being upset at the server problems. These things happen, the fact is they (TRION) are far more transparent and open about their games than many, if not all other developers, certainly in the MMO market there is no other developer like TRION.

There is plenty of information on this site as well as twitter explaining there is a problem and that things will be back up as soon as they possibly can. Do you nuggets actually think TRION enjoys the fact that people are bursting to play their game and can't?

You know the whole PC vs console thing is getting a little old don't you think? The issues with the servers being down on X box should have not bleed effect on PC. Furthermore, on a personal note the way in which "some" PC gamers project themselves comes off as pretentious ( please look that word up) and make me say " why would I ever want to involve myself with people would base there whole social worth on a device. I sell cell phones and see people blindly buying I Phones solely based on a perceived social status. Which Apple has do a wonderful job at marketing by putting it in the hands of celebrities and athletes. However, those in the industry know the turn classification of the iPhones being an entry level smartphone as far as useability.

Bottom line here is whatever you are playing on you are still a gamer and apart of the same community of gamers. It should not matters how much you invest be it 500.00 or 5k. Sooner of later PC gamers will learn that game designers are putting more resources and effort in solidify their financial revenues in console gaming. Just look at any retail store product placement and count for PC gaming. Sure most games on PC are and do allow downloading however, it is a marginal representation in the overall revenue streams for the industry.

For all of you who have the attention span of a squirrel, I encourage you to check out the following link prior to complaining that there is a lack of communication to the community in regards to server status. In this thread you will always find an explanation of any server outages.

Please have faith guys, you must understand that Trion is absolutely working their butts off and I fully believe that with support of this community, they will have one of the best games available to date! Hang tough and hope to see each of you in future ark falls and shadow wars!

Yes they have the thread you linked, but it doesn't say if it is still down or up, they don't update it frequently enough...even hourly would help. I know you can go try and log in, but that doesn't tell you if it is an issue with just you or still the world wide issue.

People need to relax a bit, buhu i can not login to the game atm, they are adding a hell of a lot of new content, and they did some changes and allowing people to restart there main quest Again, those Things are alot of Work, and some issues will happen, take a breath or go to bed earlie or put the kids to bed and relax with the wife or girlfriend or boyfriend for that matter.

If they sort it out awesome if not i can wait, no monthly sub, the buffs if this goes on for too long i would be surprised if they did not comp you with boosters Again, and if not so what you already got 1 free gift boost package because there where minor issues(major for some people at launch) for the majority of people, and yet we all got booster gifts to make up for the trouble some people had, that is why im not going to be mad at Trion, multi platform mmo issues you can not expect it to be flawless no matter what amount of testing they do before releasing it.

Jeez cut trion some slack guys the fundamentals behind making a game are insane and take a while to "perfect" I programmed for about 3 years and its some hard stuff the fact they were able to make an mmo like this on console blows my mind besides this is normal the first few weeks for an mmo at least trion is trying to fix it as fast as they can
