    Genuinely confused by reviews
    Im confused by every review pretty much, even the ones that aren't mainstream... All giving low scores?

    Only one other game tried this MMOTPSRPG genre and that was tabula rasa, failed and was P2P...

    Defiance is simply pay for the game and play with a cash shop... Gameplay wise this game is spot on, could maybe use with an active reload feature and covering, and a third weapon slot at least (Hold Y to select 3rd etc)..
    Graphics aren't bad but they aren't exactly crysis, xbox 360 could use with a little downgrade to improve frame rate (perhaps allowing you to set low/med/high graphics).. HBAO is on and it doesnt need to be there and makes a hit on FPS... Story is weak but who the hell cares about story, in every MMO i just skip ALL dialogues because MMO stories always SUCK, and Defiance is fully voice acted, there aren't a whole lot of MMO's with voice acting and as many cutscenes other than maybe SWTOR.

    In terms of actual gameplay this is pretty fun, and probably the most fun ive had with any MMO ever....

    So im confused by the low reviews? Ive played a lot of games, this is one of the good ones..

    Personally i rate it at least 8.5/10... With added weapon variety (item randomisation), features, better character customisation and performance fixes on the 360 it could be better.. I just don't understand how a company manages to make a MMO with the gameplay almost perfect incorporating a lot of features of the best games and somehow end up with a bad review?

    I feel like the review community is just a complete joke now, is someone jealous paying reviewers to say its ****? I am genuinely confused to f***.

    Yes im in the same boat. The only thing we can do is vote user scores and share our comments, whilst hoping the main reviews dont stop people buying the game.

    its a shame someone doesnt arrange a mass leave feedback on the sites where you can leave user scores and reviews (IGN, Metacritic, gamespot etc)

    I'm with you.
    I haven't had this fun in an MMO in quite a while.

    Mostly true. Fallen Earth was similar to this also, and though it tanked as a p2p, it went f2p with an item mall and has been fairly successful ever since. Its a great game if slightly dated.

    I don't really read reviews honestly.. these are people paid to form opinions, and not only do they often get money for positive reviews, I've frequently suspected that one way they get those funds is also to pile it onto the competition. Besides most game reviewers always come across as kind of jaded towards MMORPGs in general.

    I do sometimes read community review sites though. MMORPG.com is an example where the game is currently rated 8. Judging by yours and mines scores.. mine being a 7.5 ... well 8.5 and 7.5 average to 8 so seems legit to me.

    Part of the problem with Defiance seems to be the expectations people place on it, and I think a heavy misunderstanding as to what the game is supposed to be, People want it to be a traditional MMORPG set in the Defiance universe and it never really was going to be. For me, I love the idea of playing along with the show, and have no problem waiting for the content. Alot of players seem to not like that. What can you do? Can't please everyone. The only opinion actually important is yours. If you enjoy the game, stop caring what everyone else thinks and play.

    While I'm not generally a Gamespot fan, I'll re-paste their summary "good vs bad" section;
    http://uk.gamespot.com/defiance/revi...eview-6407168/

    The Good
    * Exciting arkfalls capture the sense of a population fighting for riches
    * The lure of interesting new weapons is irresistible
    * Well-paced co-op missions
    * Great scaling and progression have you exploring the world early on.
    The Bad
    * Depressing array of bugs intrude on almost every aspect of play
    * The shooting lacks a sense of power
    * Wonderless world and story
    * Unbalanced difficulty in story missions.

    ^^ And you can't really argue with that much. And the opening statement says it all;

    "Defiance is a difficult game to wrap your head around. That's not because it's all that complicated, but rather because it's just so much fun, even though none of the elements are done particularly well."

    I thought maybe you are genuinely confused but then i read your last two lines. If you think someone is paying every single critics out there to write negative reviews for Defiance then you need to take your tin foil hat off.

    Typical Fanboy nonsense.

    To be honest it's hard to review, in the first week your going to give it a low score with the ammount of issues there were, review it now it would have a better score, 1 month later it could be 9/10 game.

    People who are giving this game 8+/10 are easily pleased. After 20 years of gaming via various mediums I'm not as easily impressed as "WELL U CAN DRIVE CARS N SHOOT STUFF WITH FIRE AND ROCKETS AND ROCKETS ON FIRE LOL PVP LOOT". Not to say everyone who enjoys this game is a drooling ****** with fanboy issues and learning disabilities by any means, but my standard of expectations in any game developed in this day-and-age is considerably higher than this cess-pool of ****-ups.

    Can argue pretty much with that. Story can be done on a quite good pace, many think its 'OMG RUSH IN PEW PEW' style, they fail big time. Same for Nim, you need a different approuch to get stuff going.

    The world itself is very diverse, check the different camps and settlements, each is pretty unique and very little copy&paste. No 'square flat' area's, but every bit of terrain has been modified one way or another.

    Depressing bugs? Name one that makes you depressing. The few odd pursuits that aint working? The few instances not properly triggering? Far from depressing for me.

    The shooting, not sure what they mean with that. Each weapon handles differently, go play with the Reaper and you feel true power of a gun.

    For a recently launched game, its pretty solid at base. Sure it could have some extra stuff, sure it could be wider on content/diversity, but the basics are very solid. Some dont like it because they expect Borderlands, other expect Battlefield 3, some see WoW as holy grail and some just like to piss on anything that isnt what they want. The others, are just having fun. Every day i find new places on the map, places not been before and its pretty amazing to see how much detail was put in some parts.

    See, at the time of Tabula many had huge critics on the game, buggy, crap, lame, stupid, but it was years later they realised it was a very decent game and hardly no other game ever got close to their level of 'depth' on a TPS MMO.

    Yeah so decent that they had to shut down the game because population dropped faster than a dead fly. All the criticism of TR was warranted. Devs didn't listen and game end up being dead.
