Having read through several (but not all) pages, I will interject my story of how I beat this incredibly stupid instance.
-Shotgun (non-slug, wide-spread)
--two shots at mid-range, even with the little jetpack guy running AT you, was enough to puncture the tank and send him running.
Also, on said topic of single-player missions in an MMO environment: This was probably the biggest disappointment I've experienced in Defiance so far. Even the horrible creation that is Guild Wars 2 allowed you to bring other players into your story quest with you. If the AI that accompanied you was even REMOTELY useful (a la ME3 and the like), this would be a completely different story- but they're terrible. They can't shoot for shtako, and they constantly die.
Something's gotta give one way or the other: additional players in Story missions, or a significantly more useful AI. Please pick one, Trion. I love the game, but this was a terrible design flaw.
@OP, best of luck to you :)
i find the npc helpers useful for drawing fire when decoy is on cd :D
I just hit the flamer guys with my shotgun to knock him down. And then one shot at his back lit the gas cans on his back :)
Well the help from friends part is that he could get a friend to use his account to get past that encounter. (That I can see have been done :))
And about the part with me barely have touched the game wish it was true.
got 93 pursuits complete (bugged and freightyard pursuits i am stuck with atm).
but with the right perk build, you can pretty much stand still and clear a room without dying because of some perks that are boosting others and make the character have 60% damage reduction and 1½ sec shield recharge and almost instant reload. (Bugged and have been reported) but still :)
GZ on finally getting him down Cappraa, and GZ to every person who came on this thread and gave good advice. This thread renewed my belief in the humanity of the gamer community. This has to be the most positive/constructive thread I've seen in years.
Shameless Bump.
Detonators ignite the smelters every time. Best use one that explodes on impact.
Customer service cannot grant you completion of any mission, except in cases where there is a known issue with the mission and completing it is the approved solution. Trust me, I have worked for two years in MMO CS. It is not done.
Maybe you have a friend who plays the game (or is generally the twitchy type) and who could drop by and finish the mission for you?
Edit: I see the later worked for you. Gratulations! Make sure he is at hand when you meet Nim ;)
hjey, if your stuck on any quests give me an in-game add (Skillmatic) and i will be more than glad to help you in any ways that i can.
++ on g13. I have configured mine for Defiance, but I'm a bit of a Klutz with it at the moment. I've used it forever on MMORPGs. I can imagine getting pretty good with this in Defiance with a few hours practice. It is meant for left hand work though. It might feel really bad in right hand.
In terms of the actual fight, you might see if you can find a SAW with a fire effect. SAW is great for laying a lot of dmg on Jack when he comes down and the fire nano may light the little smelters on fire.
@OP:
Does your thumb on your left hand work? If so, you may want to look into getting something like what I use, not because of any disability just because it is much more comfortable & easier / smoother to play with than a normal keyboard for me. Here it is: http://www.belkin.com/n52te/index1.html
Where your thumb would go is a mix of analog stick & directional pad (like on a console controller) where if the analog setup works for you, great, if not you can just pop it off and use it as keys / directional pad. Also that and any f the other keys on the entire pad can be remapped to be any key on your keyboard as well as mouse buttons. You can also create macros which would allow you to perform several key presses in a row rather with 1 key press rather than having to press individual keys for everything.
I dont know exactly what the situation is and what works for you, but something like this may make it a bit easier for you to maneuver around and do things in the game.
Also, A Razer Naga mouse might also be good for you if the gamepad isnt. Along with normal mouse functions you have a large number of keys on the side of the mouse, and a couple extras on the top, that can be mapped to keys on your keyboard and have macros as well. This might help out by allowing you to perform most of your actions, including movement, all with your thumb on your mouse.
I wouldnt say that. I think they simply misunderstood and thought he was asking for credit for the mission, not that he was asking them to stop these missions from being solo only and allow friends to join with you to help out.
The response is kind of understandable if that was what the CSR thought. As screwed up as it is, we all know that if they did grant credit for such things to legitimately disabled people, you would have an army of spoiled whiny kids pretending to be disabled just to get free credit for stuff and ruining it for those who do actually need the help.
Great thread and outcome (though it would have been a LOT better if someone official had stuck their head in here)
Pity you cant use an old joystick for directional travel instead of the keyboard .
