As soon as you except Defiance as an online only Borderlands game

All is right with the world :)

Cause like Borderlands is awesome and really popular to which Defiance shares a lot in common with
guess the critics miss that LOL :(

But I never liked the co-op in Borderlands cause of the free for all loot horde system
to which Defiance thankfully does not have i.e. scaled personal only you can see
loot drops type system thing a ma jig :)

Also the co-op maps I ran in game are pretty neat as well :)

I started a thread making the same type of connection you have. Couldn't agree more!

I always hated that loot system, better off playing by yourself or an established group. For public games it created an environment that pushed people to be "ninjas". However, whenever I played I always left the loot for the host to get first dibs.

Just give me bladed revolvers and I'm with you.

borderlands is sooooo much better. the loot system is better in there is a reason to keep looking for loot because it progresses. here, there are no differences in weapon stats. in borderlands i would laugh at you using the gun you started at lvl 1 with on the end game boss. in defiance, i would stand next to you using my own. the weapon/loot in defiance is poo. the same size, shape, weight, damage level, clip size, accuracy, etc, etc poo.

now the only thing i wish borderlands would have, and i think needs to have to continue to be a great hit, is more than 4 player co-op. maybe not pvp...but for sure an open world pve type thing.

The only thing I wish Borderlands would have is Third Person.

I loved but hated borderlands at the same time, the game was fun but always fell stressful when it came to loot, and when someone came in to my game and just put every orange weapon on the floor I just thought 'whats the point now'.....the non shared loot was stupid tho, u play a game co-operatively just to have your team mate steel the loot and quickly quit out?

There is a third person mod for Borderlands, but its unusable in certain areas.

Yeah doesnt work that way unfortunately. The closest thing to a revolver I've found in the game only gets an extended rear stock with a melee mod. The Wolfound gets a little razor blade thingie up front which is a smidge better.

I run nearly exclusively with weapons that get visible blades with a melee mod, (Shotguns do the best there) but I've always loved the look of the Borderlands Bladed revolvers.

Defiance is borderlands lite, lite on content and lite on the bajillion awesome guns(ie no Monty haul in game, making the loot system nearly pointless). If they only did it for balance reasons in PVP they should have had basic generic weapons or load outs you can choose from specific to PVP, and separate from the rest if the game.

Anyway, back on topic: If Defiance had the item system from Borderlands; I guarantee you this game would've seen a higher score. But it doesn't, so. eh.

Borderlands is first person and there level up and gear system are way better with millions of weapons. You can't really compare the two. Only thing defiance has that borderlands doesn't is mmo

I would say that Defiance is the child of Brute Force (Xbox) and Borderlands.

I more accept it as a shooter with Asheron's Call loot tables instead :)

I sold it to my brother as Firefall + Borderlands (with a big nod to Tabula Rasa).

For all its flaws I still have fun playing this game. When I was is in beta the play style and loose physics along 4 different powers, reminded me of Brute Force. (which I loved)
