More and more people are starting to get into this area...
I have also been in there an managed to get to the top of that massive spire looking rock that looks like a tower right in the middle next to the extraction point.

I wonder how long it will be until they announce as dlc?
It's either DLC or they forgot to take it out :P
I was expecting to see an actual fort.
There are other places on the overall map, beyond the yellow walls that exist, but are just green hills and mountains. (Although a couple of these places do have some trees.)
I can't remember if it was a rumour or a dev mentioned it, however I believe there was mention at one point of Fort Defiance being introduced into the game.

The strange geometry it suggest to me that this is a developers area where they can experiment with things on the production server. Spawn enemies, emergencies and ark falls, to see how they behave on the production server.
In EVE Online there is also a whole section on the map that is for developers, it is right next to an area that is also closed because a faction lives there who are mysterious.
Or is could be just an area that they haven't finished and scrapped it because of the deadline.
I actually really hope we won't be going there in the first DLC, though given its placement on the map that seems unlikely, because where do you go, thematically speaking after that?
Fort defiance is at the heart of everything the show and game stands for emotionally, philosophically, thematically and so on.
The only way to keep the game interesting afterwards will be to up the stakes from all angles and that will trivialize what fort defiance is and stands for.
Obviously i don't know what they have planned for fort defiance, it could be amazing and just right but i'm getting the feeling that should we be going there so soon then the decision wasn't really thought through.
Where is this area you are talking about? I'm curious now.
