They took our jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerbss!
Judging from what we have seen in the TV show flashbacks - which isn't much about the Pale Wars. How the Hell did the Voltan Collective beat us in the first place? Did they use some EMP or alien-techno to make our technology useless, did they nuked / terraformed us from orbit? Why didn't we blast them from the skies! Too much national internal fighting as to who was in charge? Alien Force-field / nuke prof gizzmo protecting the Arks!
Even if they had more of those giant mech guarding the Golden Gate bridge, we have Defiance-tech Nova Strike, Bio-marines and Strato-carriers. Real world Weapons of Mass Destruction - thousands of Nuclear weapons, Biological and Chemical weapons, Standard real world military gear planes, tanks, ships, guns, knifes and even sharp sticks! The Voltan seven races are up against a species that has fought amongst itself since we lived in caves, given we are fighting for our very survival then we would have fought harder and dirtier than we normal do.
ever think you're the alien filth....this is no longer the planet of humans.
Vastly superior technology. Our best infantry wear layers of cloth and wield weapons that throw rocks very quickly. The VC have cyborg technology, defense screens, deployable cover, not to mention advanced nano-tech weaponry.Quote:

They didn't beat us. A lot of people got tired of fighting, on both sides, and quit. Enough individuals did it that continuing the war was impractical.
Basically, yes. The Arks exploded, no one knows why, which caused the terra forming tech to run wild.
If I remember right, that giant mech was actually human in origin.
Quite a few strato carriers have been shot down, I think there only were 6 ever made (inside defiance episode 4 for exact figures and name of shot down vessel near defiance). Only 1 strato carrier remains operative. Humans had far more resources, but the Votans had the upper hand in tech. Earth military forces were quite literally being whiped out in fast numbers (lore on website). The humans made up the deficiency in tech, with numbers, human numbers.
Edit: All good points, thanks for the input.
Until you Voltan's wipe out every man, woman and child of the human race then Earth IS the planet of Humans (or other proof comes to light to say otherwise).

Just because they had vastly superior technology don't mean they would win, look at the Vietnam war, you can force a superior technological enemy to withdraw or to the negotiation table.

Fine I can see the logic in that, lets face it no-one wants to fight a war. And if enough individuals quit that forces the governments to the negotiation table to talk peace.

This interest me the most in both the game and TV series, just who or what destroyed the Arks. Opens a hole lot of plots they could use.
They didn't beat us. We fought them, tooth and nail till stalemate. Plus it helps, that we made enough weapons and ammo to armed enough Votan and human on Earth or space:). Let this guy illustrate:

Actually didn't Cooper say in the game that humans set off the terraforming to end the war?
I'm against this, I would really like to experience casthitians women, If you know what I mean...
How about those shtaku Volge? You know, it's one thing to come to a planet with your sick, injured, unskilled and without notice or warning, but they brought the Volge?
Of course, I'm referring to the Irathients. Casthients, Indogene, they're alright, but why bring the Irathients and, more importantly, which Irathient cell "accidentally" let the Volge onto the arks?
[I'm being racist against Irathients, not Votans as a whole]
Votan, Human.. I don't care. What I do mind is the vile stench of E-rep.
*Pats old betsy* But I've the cure for that.
