My favorite part... them acting like single player games arent also loaded with bugs. Truth is, many of them are. The difference is, they dont know any better, because someone else isnt there with them to complain constantly about the bugs and things being broken, and they automatically assume that most things are working as intended.

Bethesda games are pretty well known for their single player games being pretty buggy, awesome games, but buggy. But there are lots of other companies out there that put out games loaded with bugs, theyre just not as noticeable. Luckily, we have the ability to get all our single playe rgames patched / updated now. I guess some people, especially on consoles, still dont realize though that when they start up their game and an update needs to be applied, its a patch to fix a bug or improve something that wasnt working as intended. PC players are more used to patches, where consoles didnt start getting many patches until the current gen, and none at all until the last gen, so its fairly new to them.

It's pretty simple, really. Bioshock Infinite is a better game than Defiance and it's certainly a hell of a lot more polished. Defiance is the buggiest MMO I've played since Anarchy Online was released. You don't get bonus points for being multiplayer, you get judged solely based on the game you released.

I have not played Bioshock Infinite... but I agree that defenders of Defiance need to realize that even while it is a fun game with a core gameplay mechanic that works, it is riddled with bugs and things that are just flat-out broken. Reviewers absolutely should review it lower for those misses.

Thats kind of the issue though. Several of the reviews make no real mention of the bugs, and instead base it on other things (with the understanding that bugs will get fixed). Using the IGN review as an example, the reviewer even outright says even if everything was working perfectly, it is just a mediocre game. Yet he considers it mediocre in large part because of things like kill / fetch quests, but puts games like WoW and SWTOR (which are made up largely of kill / fetch quests) on a pedestal.

That same reviewer then also proceeded to do this: Did his PC review and did not mention a bug where he got stuck on a mission and had to reset it. Then in both his XBOX and PS3 review pointed out that he ran into that bug ONLY on the PC version (yet didnt mention it in the PC review) and decided that because he had that bug on the PC, yet did not experience it on either XBOX or PS3, that he is going to put it in the XBOX and PS3 reviews anyway and just assume that it is there.

I said if before, I like the game, but you when you sit back and act like everything is great and nothings wrong with it............just makes you sound like a.........nah i won't go there.

Since you replied to several of my posts in a row I'll try to respond to each.

The buildings in San Francisco are part buried, flooded, rubble, or melted sprays of concrete. If you go up to the first story(above rubble) you'll notice there is plenty of headroom.

Epic storylines are not gameplay mechanics or AI. These things are separate.
    The story of Defiance:
Alien races from distant planets band together to escape their dying star. They set out across the distance to a planet within the habitable band of a relatively young and stable star, taking with them the means to terraform that planet into patchwork ecosystems based on their varied planets.

On arrival at Earth, or shortly before, they discover that the planet is inhabited by another sentient species. Humans. The humans detected the alien approach and have created military solutions to the situation. Nevertheless, both sides attempt to negotiate a peaceful solution to the immigration crisis. Some aliens touch soil in Brazil, others remain in cryogenic stasis onboard the arks.

The peace process is repeatedly sabotaged by agents of discontent on both sides who, at some points, work together to foster war. Human and Votan relations become increasingly hostile until war begins. With its preparation in the years prior to the alien arrival, Human military forces are able to resist the more technologically advanced Votan military.

Eight years of war later, the arks are sabotaged and explode simultaneously. The unregulated expulsion of terraforming technology directed by Ark-Brain AI leads to the rapid and random terraforming of Earth. The war continues for almost a year longer, until the battle of Defiance where the Votan and EMC face off against one another. Between them is a peaceful settlement where Votan and Humans live in harmony and are de-militarized. Captain Jon Cooper and Corporal Joshua Nolan at first are sent to garrison this community, but discover that the EMC plan to steamroll over it. They decide to protect the peaceful colony despite orders to the contrary. Votan soldiers are similarly conflicted, and join in the defence of the community.

Using the dangerous Votan terraforming technology as a weapon, the Defiant Few turn the approaching EMC and Votan armies into soup. Thousands die in an instant. San Francisco is forever scarred with the spray of molten skyscrapers and the ash of the fallen soldiers. Sinkholes swallow whole city blocks.

Ultimately war criminals, the Defiant Few conceal their misuse of the terraforming technology and are touted heroes by the people they've saved. The defeat of EMC and Votan forces by a joint Human-Votan force turns the tide of sentiment towards co-existence. The people are tired of war.

With the collapse of government, new geo-political powers spawn across the globe. Savage, internecine wars break out, though nothing on the scale of the global conflict dubbed "The Pale Wars". Into that mess of political infighting, mercenary exploitation and base survival comes the new VBI Ark Hunter(s). Transhuman/votan AI hosts, turned to the purpose of the highest bidder, or the highest ideal. The new world is carved out according to their whims, or the whims of those able to enlist them.

Certainly on par with Mass Effect's main story premiss.

105 million was the total budget for both tv series and the game. Not just the game. Fallout 3 spent more years in development than Defiance, and still was a buggy mess despite only being single-player.

@ensu honestly though, other than data recorders hardly any of that is storyline is talked about or dealt with in game. No twists, no surprise betrayals, nothing new to bring to the table combat wise, and boring quest structure. Example: Instead of arkfalls being shoot the bullet sponge crystal, how about an ACTUAL structure falls to the ground. In show (which so friggin epic i love this show already) they used supplied air because sometimes the arkfalls make the air unbreatheable, why not have that in the game. everyone starts off with a 5min air pack and gets that much time to get in the structure loot and get out of the area before they die. Another thing i haven't personally been apart of ONE arkfall that has failed. WTF!!! The enemies in this games, with the exception of nim, are easy and pose no threat as long as you have 3 or more players. Basically I'm saying that if there were no bugs, no server timeouts, no disappearing weapons, this still would be an average shooter(really folks lets stop calling it an mmo).

also i'm from america and just came from the uk a couple months ago and you guys ROCK. I'm still not into futball that much but man you dudes party right.

Let me put this simple. Defiance is awesome. I am loving it. So don't take this then wrong way. Bioshock Infinite was a much better game. The game deserved an 11 out of 10, one of the best I've ever played. Anyway you can't really compare the two games, they are worlds apart. Do I think defiance should of gotten a better score? yes! I think all mmo's should not be reviewed at least until a few major patches have been released.

Don't you know by now IGN is horrible when it comes to reviews and everything else. Lol. We all want to know what their reviews are but at this point they have know backbone. Their reviews are total bull. They will sit there and say they loved playing a game, loved everything about it, then they will end it with one thing that's wrong with it and give it a horrible score. Look at the rating they gave dcuo, they said it wouldn't last. Dcuo is still huge and has no plains of dying down.
