5 years to deliver a game full of buggs still? I find this very hard to belive...
People seem to forget this is tied to a T.V show and a ****load of people are involved as well as many mediums (Xbox, PS3, SyFy).
Give some credit where credit is due... What have you released lately? They are making history, what are you doing? Go the **** away and just contribute to all the other whine threads...
/lock
please?
I think there was a mis type. They must have meant 5 months lol
Naw, it took 5 weeks to make the game.
isn't it obvious?
This game has so much potential. Stick out the tough times, and I'm sure it will get better.
Heres a probable breakdown
1 year to get concept
1 year to work out how the tv show tie in will work
2 years of development
1 year of beta, alpha
Mmos take ALOT longer to develop that a yearly game loke cod. Also, not all bugs will be apperant before the game is released esoecially since a mass of ppl are playing it at once stressing untested server networks.
People act like the show has been on for 15 years and in that time we've seen the Crystal from the game and that was it. LOL, relax guy, we got the pilot episode. nobody knows how the game and show will tie in just yet.
The only history trion are making right now is
The quickest mmo to go down the toilet
The worst and buggiest game theres ever been
Lying to their gaming community....they promised us more than this garbage we are recieving!!! Now time for me to feel like im part of some new ground breaking genre and.......click on a paper lantern
dude, he's just a troll. he's gonna make 50 thousand threads bashing Defiance because he doesn't have anything better to do. Halo fanboys do this every time another multiplayer shooter comes out on Xbox. he'll post this millions of troll threads for like 2 weeks and then he'll go away back to Halo land, and you'll never see him again.
so why bother with reason? just agree with him and bash the game to oblivion. it's more fun that way.
If people don't like and/or are fed up with the game... Why don't they just leave the forums and sell the game? ._.
I was driving up a hill and then jumped off it with my vehicle, then I hit those purple/pink flowery things, when I was in the middle of no where.
Can you believe someone put that there? in the middle of no where? I'm pretty sure this game didn't take long to make so every hill, obstacle and all else is non existent.
If this is true, then I am Shell Shocked for life, and after life.
Oh really now? Can I get a link to each individual one please? How about just one? None? Thought so...
Mr. 200 and the OP at 300+... All my threads/post have been somewhat positive/constructive.. Other than where I've ran into dip****s like yourself.
You see the problem? I like this game.. I support it.... I have no problems outside the obvious(same ones everyone is having).. I should be here...
You? You hate this game? WHAT THE **** ARE YOU STILL POSTING ABOUT... I honestly think some bastards like you work for some failing *** company that IS losing subs / players... Your just here to try and tarnish a good games name in hopes they end up somewhere else.. hopefully your pile of **** of a game right?
I mean.. what else is it.. what else drives you to post in a forum on a game you hate.. MOVE THE **** ON IF YOU DISLIKE IT... Plenty of games I've disliked or felt I made a bad purchase on.. Did I goto their forums making a whiny *** post about it... **** no.. I moved on.. My mistake.. Better look into it better next time...
I haven't taken a gamble in a long time.. and I somewhat did on Defiance... Plenty of videos around to show you exactly how the game play will be and what to expect...
Edit: Keyword... Gamble.
WTF is the issue..
Seriously.. Go play something else... I may hate a game you absolutely ****ing love.. I wont be in your games forum pissing on your cheerios.. why piss here.. and you would be acting like me... Yet you fail to realize the simple logic of what many have tried to express to you and people like you...
IF YOU ARE UNSATISFIED... MOVE ON.. or.. do something useful.. make a suggestion thread a bug post etc... "Oh but I did that.. they didn't respond to the personal me.. wah wah wah"... If you feel like your not being catered to.. move on to a game that will.. oh wait... none will
just ****.. enjoy the game or don't.. I really do not understand the mentality of people these days...
I'll accept that.. but I do hope you can understand how I took it out of context.. I thought he was talking directly to me.. in any case.. I apologize.. Could just as easily quoted someone else..
Whine threads are just getting to me.. and again.. I really am tipsy ..
easily. i'll start at something we all do every time we log in. when you shoot something, the game spawns a projectile. it may or may not be visible to you, but it is a physical object in the game, and it's trajectory is calculated and tracked from pulling the trigger, to impact, at which point "did i hit something useful" calculations start spooling off.
it sounds simple, right? if you're making the engine itself, that, alone, after you've done everything leading up to that point... easily months of debugging, recompiling, scrapping entire functions in order to start over with fresh code, etc etc.
MONTHS. and every time you change one line of code, and recompile the entire engine in order to make sure it all still works together? you hit compile first thing in the morning. if you're lucky it's done compiling by lunch time tomorrow. sure, there's a few issues with hitboxes (see all the sniper rifle + scope mod threads), but honestly? those problems are nothing compared to the problems that were faced just making sure the bullets traveled in the correct general direction, in the first place.
and this is before you apply the networking code that tracks all of those bullets from multiple clients in order to give proper kill shot credit, experience allocation, loot drops, etc etc.
at only 5 years and working under a solid, non-negotiable, release date this game is fracking beautifully done. is it as perfect as games that didn't have that kind of development schedule? no. but the beauty of MMO's is.. they can fix it as they go from this point on.
we may not like that fact in the here and now, but in a year, maybe 2? we'll have a very solid, reliable, and FUN game (it's already fun, really, but the more the merrier, aye?). that's a year or 2 that other games would have stayed in alpha and just not so much as announced a release date, mind you. heck most wouldn't have even announced they were working on the project at all that early in.
I ask myself the same question. There are very specific people who do this constantly. Thankfully I finally decided to put them on ignore and It saved me the eye sore. My only guess is that they really are that pathetic and lonely. Doing it a couple times for a game you didn't like cuz you payed money for it is one thing, but doing it constantly and persistently is a sure sign of the person lacking something.
funny. i said the same thing about horizons. their servers are still live, almost 10 years later. though they did fix a fraction of the problems my friends and i found in beta, on through launch month, in that several year period. i don't know what they were thinking, letting a level 2 archer have all the tools he needed to solo 3-6 lvl 70+ golems while his entire guild sits on the hill with popcorn, getting free exp... not a bug or exploit either. thats just how the class was meant to be played.
Already googling your address.. scarey right... Just remember you said I could.. and I have witnesses.. -Starts checking off the calendar... "Only 711 more days to go.. I finally get to hit an e-peen jerk in the face"....
Edit post: Legally...
Edit 2: Question to anyone in the legal profession or to anyone that knows a ton about law: Would this still be considered assault if he told me I could? Is this a legal binding verbal contract?
Just a note:
The development team more than likely did not start off as big as it has grown to now, so development would have been slower in the first years.
