Everything in this game just seems... pointless...
Just a few things I want to say before I dive in. Now before you say "lol everything in video games are pointless", I understand. I completely agree, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm also not bashing this game, it has been addicting since release day. HOWEVER, I am starting to get bored of it VERY quickly. Let me explain...

There's no real reason to progress in this game. None what-so-ever.

EGO points are useless once you level up the EGO bar like 15 times, which is not hard at all. This is because you can only equip one EGO power and four EGO passives. Most of these passives are completely useless while others you would be stupid not to use. Example is 30% increased ammo loot... why? Ammo is so easy to find. One that is too good is half damage when shields run out, this has been a lifesaver so many times. The only reason to increase your EGO rating is for a bigger, well, ego.

Gun rarity and gun level makes no difference. I held onto a level 38 blue FRC Heavy Scattergun until I found a purple version of this same gun at level 800. I want to find a orange one, but why bother? This purple is just as good if not better than most I've seen on the forums.

So lets just say you play this game to get better gear, just like pretty much every RPG or MMO. Let's say you have the best gear in the game. Who cares? Instances are solo-able and do not require good gear at all. Arkfalls are the exact same, and there are so many people you will not fail. The only reason to get better gear is for pvp, which brings me to my next point.

PvP is stupid in this game. Shadow war is like a worse Battlefront and smaller matches just get boring. There's no incentive to play PvP because no skill system and it hardly rewards you for winning or even completing a match. If you plan on just playing PvP in this game, you a better off finding a game that revolves around this element, rather than just adding it in there.

Farming for gear in this game is stupid. The only real farming comes from grinding key codes to use on lock boxes because bosses never give gear. In other games, if you were looking for specific part of equipment you would grind a specific boss/instance/whatever. The best you can hope for in this game is to get a random orange gun in a box and hope someone is willing to trade for something you are looking for.

All of this takes away the fundamental MMO and/or RPG qualities that would otherwise make it a good game. This just leaves it as being a lacking TPS.

It's perfectly fine they went to a skill-based system rather than a hard stat-based system (as in Rift) but they dropped the ball by causing the game's skill cap to plateau way too early. There's progression in skill-required from mutants to raiders to 99ers to Dark Matter, but once you get accustomed to Dark Matter the game gets... routine.

We need at least one more tier above Dark Matter to justify the existence of the mod system at all. And that tier needs to be a sizable jump.

Of course, the PVE instances are garbage that do not require any form of teamwork, communication, or consideration of tactics or loadouts. This needs to change.

I love this topic, so filled with new and inventive ideas. I swear these are all new opinions I've never heard anyone make before.

Stopped reading there.. when you get more ego, you unlock more ego perk slots and loadout slots.

Everyone's idea of fun is different. What's pointless to you, is hours of hilarity and mayhem for me. It's the same reason why I continue to play games like SR3 even after completing everything. Trion has given me the tools necessary to make my own fun...and I use it to the fullest every day.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go emulate some Dukes of Hazzard with my friend in her orange Challenger while running the theme in the background.

You'd better brace yourself, because the people that just bought the game to coincide with the TV premier are going to be finishing with Dark Matter in like a week from now. You're in for another wave.

Once you unlock all your loadouts and perk slots yeah, it seems there really is no reason to get more ego, it doesn't seem to increase your weapon stats one bit actually.

If he went to play something else, he couldn't get other people to validate his existence. After all unless people validate his opinion it'll make him a sad panda. He could easily go play something else until they add more content, or fix the bugs or anything else. He just finds it way more productive to whine on the message boards.

I mean he only probably put like 30 - 40 hours into the game... I mean in all that time he could have beaten COD about 17 times.
