Taking a game for what it is, a form of entertainment born to have fun, is low standard?
Well, as you like, in the meanwhile I'm having fun, all the haters what are having?

it's simply not a progression based time sink, it's a casual drop in, drop out game, that rewards the players skill rather than how much time they've invested farming dungeons and grinding levels.
Yes this game is pointless. Since co op just gives you crap xp and pvp is so bugged there is nothing to do other than pursuits. If we aren't surprised with some "end game" activities in a dlc this game will go no where. People want end game things to do once they beat the story line. Not replay it. I didn't get this game for the CRAP story it has! So why are they making it seem like its all about missions. Game = dead
There are no appreciable levels of skill based rewards though. I can buy a grenade from a vendor or I can get arguably the same grenade for placing #1 in an arkfall.
I can buy an AR from a vendor or get the same exact AR by using keycodes I got from finishing a co op map.
How does this really equate to skill based game play?
fixed.
end game? Hey, the game starts when you login and ends when you logout, until next time you login. Why lot of people think that simply PLAYING a game is not enough, they need to have a boring levelling part (they find usually boring and rush through that) and an end game part (repeat the same instance-raid for months just to get a better equip that will be old as soon as dev introduce new instances-raids)?
sigh
As per every Trion webpage, video and interview I have seen, Defiance is an "open world shooter", not an MMORPG.
If you are looking for an endless gear grind with the inevitable power creep when they add new tiers of gear to keep grinders happy, then you have come to the wrong place.
That's not what this is.
I'm disappointed by the current level of content, but no content patches have come out yet and there's no sub so it's not as if waiting is going to cost you anything. Just stop playing and check back later if you want more content.
Gun rarity does make a difference, higher rarity = more bonuses.
