Free Banner Maker?

I've seen some users with banners(usually for their clan) around the forums and was wondering how they made them/what website they used(or if you're one of these users, could you tell me how you made/got your sig. banner?), as I too would like to make a banner for my clan.

I am not being snarky with my suggestion that you invest in photoshop or look into installing the open source GIMP program. These will give you all you need in regards to banner creation, or any other photo/picture manipulation you need for you clan.

The best way is to torrent(if you're poor), buy, or download the trial for Adobe Photoshop. It'll provide the most crisp banners.
Then if you want to make an animated banner get Adobe Flash.

I am not really a legal beaver; the reason I would stay away from using torrent to 'illegally' download a high profile program like photoshop is because China and various organizations in Russia seed programs like it with malicious executables, trojans, etc. While GIMP may lack Photoshop's intuitive interface, it has all the functionality, is legal and safe.

It only requires basic coding knowledge and a good Anti Spyware program to protect yourself from such attacks. Many people may not have the former but many atleast have the latter.

Even if you discount the sophistication of state sponsored programming, it is still illegal and unsupported. For the purpose of banner design and basic graphical design, GIMP is more than sufficient. It also does animation.

So is GIMP, put simply, "idiot proof"? The most I've done with stuff like this is basic Photoshop my Sophomore year in High School.

I made mine is Paint.net, You do not really need any fancy sort of software just a photo editor and a little time and effort.

GIMP all the way!





















But Seriously I keep mine in the basement.

AHA! I've have done it! Bow down to my basic mastery of image manipulation! And it only took me 2+ hours...
So, here it is it may be a crap banner, but it is MY crap banner! Now, how the hell do I get it to show up in my signature as an actual picture?
