Has anyone used the voice area chat after the patch? I know its selected by default but needs to be unmuted. I've only had it work with one person so far that had it unmuted and was in my area at same time. Anyone else?

used it a couple times, but still very anti social game...
If you join a clan, it becomes similar to chat roulette -- you're talking to people all the time and don't know who they are. Hobestly, I like it.
Yep. Very anti-social. Most of the people I've attempted to talk to ended up spend more time trolling the masses by joyously exclaiming their intention of running over every skitterling they see in every arkfall or plugging their half-assed guilds instead of anything actually relevant to the task at hand.
Not talking doesn't mean anti-social. I turned off my mic and keep my volume low just in case someone has a legitimate question/comment but it just hasn't happened. I laughed at first because all the Xbox Live stereotypes were represented in the 1st 24 hours that the area chat worked but now its getting a bit annoying listening to the wannabe rappers, angry closeted-racists, and random "bro's" that need "good guns" to not suck and will complain until they find them.
I will say the voice chat still wins over the text chat though since I always seem to miss any conversation directed at me in that. At this point I'd rather use Live to send messages or talk than bother with the in-game comm system. Maybe if that whisper/direct message system ever gets going on 360 things will change. No skin off my back either way though.
I met a group of people chatting yesterday morning but it's been mostly quiet. I came up with an idea that would make area chat a lot better: put the character names back above all the characters and just have it change colors, say orange, when someone talks. Not a game changer but it'd make things a little better.
The day of the patch I had a GREAT convo with a random guy. I was surprised considering I expected high pitched screaming. haha
Area Chat freaks out new players. Guys just started talking about the game and just getting it and being in their first arkfall. A random made a sound. They go "Is someone else in our party?" About 15 other people just blurted out "Nope". Freaked them out.
Yea on Xbox it's confusing cause you have XBL chat and Game Chat. And you can be using both.
Honestly I've not come across a lot of mic users just a few, but mostly friendly non-stereotypes so it was a pleasant encounter.
