OBSERVATIONS
This is my second field report regarding operations in the Bay Area, but before I begin I must comment on the recent battle between the collective forces of Defiance against an army of Volts. Rumors have spread among the Ark Hunters and there are fears that such an attack could take place here. There is the possibility that if a Volt army comes from the east they would, most likely, have the ability to repair the Bay Bridge and create a foothold in the ruins of San Francisco. Until the real reason behind this attack against the survivors of the Pale Wars back East is discovered rumors like this will only grow.
Another odd rumor that has been circulating is that attempts have been made to domesticate one or two of the new alien animals for riding and/or battling purposes. Is there any validity to this?
The northern area of the Bay Area, where we are stationed, is in desperate need of infrastructure. Many of the roads have been decimated, but a few of these could easily be repaired if we had the manpower, the expertise, and the equipment. This would greatly help all Ark Hunters as they race to Arkfalls. Though a civic project like this one might draw unwanted attention from Raiders and the like, isn't part of our stay in the Bay the idea of taking this all back, making it good again?
Faster vehicles would be appreciated, or the mechanics(MODS) to make them better. Also new vehicles please, especially the Cereberus and motorcycles would be appreciated and well within the capabilities of VBI.
Many Ark Hunters would not be alive today if it were not for their shields, but the shields have limitations. A few of the Ark Hunters, before they were Ark Hunters, specialized in technology and feel that if VBI would allow us to tinker with them(MOD) we could increase their strength and their recharge capabilities.
Ark Hunters on the line are missing their battle blades. In the Pale Wars you trusted four things: the soldier on your right and the soldier on your left; a gun that could fit in your hand and a good sharp blade to fit into your enemy. Along with blades some have desires for bows and spears. Would be a great thing to see on the battlefield.
I am neither sad nor surprised to report that there has been a theivery amongst the ranks of Ark Hunters. Many of the Ark Hunters have had items stolen from their footlockers(INVENTORY). I'm afraid that when the culprit, or culprits, are discovered they may not live to see a trial. What is needed is an apartment complex(s) where Ark Hunters can rest and store their gear. It is my belief, that within a month, one or more of the abandoned structures in this area could be repaired and refurbished to meet our needs.
Casualties have been heavy. I myself have spent three days in the infirmary, but Antarctica waits for no man.
I have had the greatest of fortunes in banding together with a small group of like-minded ark hunters. Our unit goes by the name of OMW2Paradise, and though I am the founder I am by far not the best in its numbers. We are growing slowly, for most who have desired to join our numbers cannot pass the simple test that we put forth to them to join: what is the meaning of our name? What is the meaning of our name? What is the meaning of our name? It's really simple.
Long ago my mother used to tell me about the beautiful city by the Bay that was called San Francisco. That city is no more. Now it is a complete wasteland. I was surprised at how sad I felt looking upon the desolate place that it had become. A lonely skeleton.
Officer Wolf Deltore of OMW2Paradise thought it would be a great idea if the units(CLANS) could create their own radio stations that they could hear on their own private unit channels. We in OMW2Paradise have also wondered if it would not be possible, if one had the finance and the reputation, to purchase a bulwark. We all envision battles to come where equipment like this will be essential to success.
ARK FALLS 2
It would seem that shtako newbies are more concerned with killing numbers and not Arkfall Crystal destruction, as on a few occasions I and a handful of others have taken it upon our shoulders this task only to fail, though we are surrounded by mountains of enemy dead by the end. But, among these unfocused ones are true warriors who have balanced the art of enemy decimation and crystal destruction. I must choose one or the other. I always choose the Crystal. A leader in OMW2Paradise, WELLERANE, a top ranker in kills and damage at Arkfalls, has the ability and the focus to complete both tasks.
If they use technology aimed for their lights: This is the rule. 99ers and Scrappers are metal and technology. The metal is tough. The blipping lights, the tech, not so much. Look to their backs, this is usually where you will find weaknesses, and when they are at their weakest or most depleted the gates to their demise will open. This was just a theory until confirmed by the astute observations of Officer Wolf Deltore.
In large Scrapper conflicts you will be faced with the task of destroying the Heat Sinks of massive robotic arms. Your weapon of choice should be an assault weapon, or something of equal penetration power. Also at certain times the lower Heat Sink will be covered in metal debri and will be hard to see, let alone destroy. Spin the arm around until this Heat Sink is revealed.
Standing still will get you killed... but sometimes that is what it takes! Meaning: do not stay in one place too long, but sometimes that second longer wins the battle in your favor.
Blast Pods and Elite Hellions, and RPG wielding humaniods! These three have probably taken out more Ark Hunters on the battlefield than any other group of things combined. The Blast Pods appear random in their blasting. Do not be fooled! Random though they may be they have the ability to send multiple bombardments downrange at once. Destroy on sight! Anything that will rip them to pieces. Elite Hellions, here is a perfect example of standing still will get you killed. Just when you're getting comfortable, laying on the hit, on top of the world...BAM! Next, your above the world. Having been flung upward by the explosion of an Elite Hellion rising to the surface. Watch out! Humaniods with RPGs apply a liberal application of immediate Death.
Get your self a Detonator and learn how to use it. Stick a few grenades to the back of an enemy and when he, or it, is near its' friend push the button!
I have been taunted on the battle field, I have danced on the field in vicotry, I've been praised after a fight...yet, no one gives cry to: "Arkfall!" or "Destroy the Crystal!" Cries(EMOTES) like these would give focus to many an Ark Hunter in this seemingly lawless place.
SUMMARY
In closing, each day I have been blessed to see the next and I hope for this to continue, but I can't shake the fear that another threat still lies behind the blue and red skies of Earth.
