Hard?
So I've been playing Defiance since the night it came out... This game is really hard, isnt it? Or is it just me. I mean the ark falls are the easiest part of the game (and I love arkfalls.) But aside from that, anytime I go anywhere and try to do a side quest, or a random event quest things can totally just kick my ***... Is it just me? If so, what could I be doing wrong? haha I really enjoy the game, but die constantly. My ego rating is like 260 or something... what exactly does the ego rating do, does it make you take less damage? increase your stats? I'm just a little confused! Thanks a bunch!

Look for a shield "Respark" 3 sec delay. For PvE it is Delay/Recharge/Capacity. That makes the game much easier since you can always hide behind something for a couple of seconds to recharge your shield.
You can't full on charge in this game you need to work your way into the areas to complete the objectives.

you're not the only one trust me. my ego rating is 553 right now and i still constantly die. this game is really hard but really fun at the same time. the randomness is always a kicker. wait till ya do HOTSHOT: Moonshine shack. that will give ya a nice look at hard lol.

It feels more difficult at first than it really is. Once you get about 3/4 through the storyline you realize it's a joke difficulty-wise.
Co-op is the easiest place to lose any illusion about difficulty. The 15th or so time you run a co-op and realize nobody's needing to call out a sniper or say they're pinned down, and that ******* in your group is leveling one of the weaker guns in the game without causing any sort of hinderance, you'll understand.
You then realize your choice of perks doesn't help or impede your group's progress, even when you go with something idiotic like blur and sniper rifles.
You then realize your mods don't matter, as there's nothing difficult enough to merit the extra edge.
You then realize the game is incomplete, as they went with a skill-based progression mechanic but failed to realize they needed a tier above Dark Matter. Or they needed to adjust the difficulty curve so Dark Matter didn't plateau so early.
PVP is another story, but any sense of difficulty is replaced with twitch close-quarters aiming-less 1shot "combat." In a shooter. WTB crushing shotgun nerf.

If you're having problems just drive a roller over everything you can at the mission location before you get out and mop up.

Dont rush in and overcommit yourself. Use cover to limit line of sight from all/most enemies othe than the one you're shooting at. Dodge roll when being shot at and in trouble as you run for cover. Use dodge rolls to put out fire or bio effects on yourself. Turn "aim assist" on and use right-click when your reticle is near a target to snap to that target. Use an AR, LMG, or SMG and shoot in single shot semi auto mode, or use very short bursts, to keep your accuracy high and your bloom and recoil to a minimum. Put a BMG in your second weapon slot and heal yourself often with it. Learn to punch (melee) things that get too close to stun them so you can shoot them.
And be zen. It will get easier with time.

It's you, give it time and you will find yourself doing better as you practice.

This game has a limit on how many mobs spawn in certain areas so just remember you might not be moving up you are dwindling the numbers.
-
oh ya, and use -only- a Respark shield. All other shields suck except for special purposes and only if yourself or a groupmate is constantly refreshing your shields with a BMG.

The shack and sniper pursuit in saugus are tough
