Stout Tactics III and how we can earn it the fastest.
I'd like to have a discussion with you all how we can achieve Stout Tactics III in the most efficient way possible.

So, first off, what are the requirements:

    Quote:

    1) Use light machine guns to kill 5000 enemies

    2) Reach skill level 10 in BMGs

    3) Kill 500 enemies that are attacking your Decoy

    4) Fully mod a light machine gun
    1) The mission "Rampage: Draw The Line" has you using a 2000 round SAW LMG with no reload to kill as many mutants as possible. Every kill counts towards your pursuit and you can attain at the very least 100-200 kills every 2 minutes.

UPDATE: 1.5) Era's suggestion below, as I've tested, is actually MUCH MORE effective than "Draw the Line" due to it's simplicity. You literally get 10 kills every 5 seconds, and I encourage everyone to check out THIS link to learn how to do this.

    2) This has been discussed around the boards for awhile and in that it is very hard to level, being such a situational and pretty inefficient gun. Some strategies I've heard included:

    - Fighting the hulker in the San Quinten Ruins (or any hulker for that matter)
    - Fighting hellbug skitterlings
    - Fighting the scrapeyard fellas out in San Francisco

    3) While I don't have a definitive clue how to use this in the most effective way, I can only assume areas that are highly infested with skitterlings would be a prime spot to bust out the decoy and lay waste.

UPDATE: 3.5) The same strategy provided by Era applies here as well. When you're killing skitterlings, simply drop your decoy up against the wall (where it won't move) and continue to take out the hellbugs normally. While they are following their AI and are not directly attacking the decoy, the game still registers it as a taunt.

    4) Very simple. Just take an unmodded LMG and "add mod slots" till you have a slot for every upgrade. If you don't have a mod for every one, go to "Headlands Transit Depot" where the vendor there sells cheap rank 1 mods.

Now tell me my fellows, what other strategies can we conjure?

I've done pretty much exactly what you listed. Been using the final turret area on Project Aegis as a 'firing range'.

The 500 decoy kills can be earned from the swarm of skitterlings that spawns and The hulker is great for bgm's.

One thing I noted is you get very noticable BMG gains if its just you. Currently you can have at the hulker semi-safe from atop the raider trucks. Just remember to jump when the hulker does to avoid the knock back from his ground pound (you'll still get hurt but won't get thrown off the truck)

Do you know what the best perks are to be able to use decoy frequently to get the best results?

Pumped Up, Materialize and Bloodlust are the ones I used - in addition to a SAW that has a 10% power recharge on full reload.

Actually just finished the pursuit - really digging the outfit ;)

I uh did LMGs to lvl 20 + 5k kills in like 2-3 days or so. Kill lots and lots of dark matter or any other bullet sponges which actually works with most other weapon types as well lol.

As to it being a weak weapon type, I kinda beg to differ; no other gun can take out a bulwark that fast which is 50-60 bullets. It has no falloff dmg and you can almost snipe with the sucker. At level one I was taking out 5 regular dms and elite without a reload lol.

Tricks? SAW is a beast, make sure to buy trainers from the happy pow farm which should have a mag + stock slot free then use level 1 mods. 111 rounds per clip ftw. Also crouching is suggested, then you don't have to iron sights it except past med range. ;)

As to BMGs well, that is one worst grinds ever. Kill lots and lots of skitterlings and or pray devs up the exp rate (needed!). 2 more levels to go... :(

And decoy, well I did this pretty quick: bumped 5 points into it and used it every CD while grinding normally. I opted to take on unshielded quick kill mobs like skitterlings and raiders.

That would be good if you were focusing on weapon exp for LMGs, but as it stands with Stout Tactics III, all you need is 5000 kills, and when you're achieving 100-200 kills every 2 minutes with "Drawing the Line," that's only a single day's work, which I find the easiest and less stress inducing route.

Eh I guess, I focus on a single weapon and go to level 20 personally. Going to do it anyways so why not now. :)

Anyways, pretty sure I got the 5k mark just before I hit lvl 20 grinding normally which is 40 more ego instead of none using sum challenge. Each their own I guess.

The location outlined in the link in my sig is the fastest place to farm weapon type and ability type kills. You'd want passives that reduce cooldown and increase duration as well, but it works for all of them but bolt action's 5k. Infinite enemies that drop infinite ammo and die faster than anything else in game=easy killfarm. Also a fine place to level BMGs.

Ooh, thank you for this. This looks like a very nice way of quick farming both BMG and Decoy.
