I saw it in the (second) ffxiv alpha. I've never seen it in a retail MMO launch, and I've been through a hell of a lot of them.

I know. I hear ya. I've been with them in Rift as well. So far, this is like an entirely different company. The only reason I let my 13 year old daughter get a copy of Defiance today (that's now 4 household copies in all) was because I want to still believe in Trion.

They are not making it easy when discussing Defiance, though. :mad:

I've been playing MMOs since UO. I can't recall gaining levels (this isn't simply gaining levels, it's as if the wrong character files are loading for characters.. full data corruption), but I have frequent memories of losing levels, items, and even sometimes characters being lost.. it does happen, but it's often corrected very quickly, caught much sooner, additional "we're sorry" reimbursement is provided, and didn't happen often (rollbacks were common in pretty much any MMO during a server hardware failure, but always fixed within the hours).

Votan Spirit Maker outfits are dropping off of Elite Elder Raiders in the top of those mayan pyramid looking things on the farmlands... both a hat and costume.

Im a software engineer in canada, i dont want to show some flesh because its useless, but Trion didnt get hacked.

They wont need to patch the game to prevent this from happening anymore, it is a server-side issue, they'll restart the server and investigate and fix this as soon as possible.

most games have data to rollback to, unfortunately I'll lose all my damn progress I made tonight & I'm the kind of person who is easily bored and i hate doing the same thing twice, it's gonna feel like I am forcing myself to do all those missions all over again unlike the first time which was enjoyable. I don't know how long it's stored for, but it should be enough to restore us to within the last few hours before that happened. many games are able to restore deleted characters, so it may not be too horrible, but I liked making ego progress i got around 160 today I think, went form 475 to around 630 something before I logged off apparently just about an hour or so before this was supposed to have happened. apparently logged characters were affected by this people are saying, so damn it.

It's almost worse... It's not a bad defense system against someone with malicious intentions...It's just Trion being bad... again lol... (Talking Defiance, I never had problems with Rift)

Most likely to happen is everyone will be rolled back the most up to date backup before this happened. Aside from that any backups after this happened are also corrupt.. so really I don't know what to make of it as it's first time I've experience this in an MMO (had rollbacks before that always got fixed by a backup before server failure), but this is a bit more odd as they let the servers continue to function after failure causing further corruption.
