I have been reading forums for a while now, there are people who are like whatever to this whole servers down thing.
well I would like to say that I am not, on top of that there is no way of solving this but roll back.
so here is my idea;
why dont we get extra boost like uhmm trion did because of xbox and ps servers going down and having problems. this is the 2nd time that trion is rolling characters back.
so yea let the flood gates open I am looking forward to hear your ideas

there's no need for a rollback.. there was some kind of bug that bumped everyones ego rating (note: no one has mentioned ego level, only rating) by a few hundred. all the roll back nonsense is people suggesting a rollback to fix what was clearly the result of a bug. fix the bug, restore characters, crack open a cold one.
it's most likely the restoration of the characters that is taking this downtime 5 friggin hours... still better than a flat rollback, though.

Have you seriously never played a game that had a server crash, rocky launch or an abundance of bugs? I take it you never played EQ, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, WoW, FFXI, FFXIV etc...? Heck tho Rift's launch was fairly stable, it even had a large range of bugs. Just add this game to that list, which i may say, is not a bad list to be on, a lot of GREAT games had rocky starts (and middles and ends for some).
Yes, I'm curious as to how this works as well. I was just watching some footage of me livestreaming the game for some friends and noticed where I got my Scattergun at lvl 94. I am now lvl 429 and am still using the same shotgun. If anyone would please explain I think a few of us would appreciate it.Quote:

What? A ton of people posted there ego level went up. I even posted one where a alt went from ego level 10 to ego level 1219. So unless they have a save of the server just before the crash/reboot they will have to roll back to the last time they saved the server data I'm pretty sure. Though I wouldn't mind getting jump on my ego level for my alts.....Quote:

We were playing happy along and I was doing the Rescue Von Bach quest. Boom, disconnected. At the time of the disconnect I was like ego level 124. Logged in about 2 minutes later and there were about 30 of us standing in the same place and my ego level was like 1275 or something like that. I had 84 ego points to spend. Normally this would require a database roll-back to a point in time to right before the glitch occurred. Hopefully their database checkpoints are fairly often so it won't make so painful.

If Trion really didn't care, they would have simply taken your money and left you with the product the way that it is. Is that what they have done? No, they have their tech support staff working around the clock to fix those issues. And yes that means that occasionally they have to bring servers down to fix the problems that we are all having.
If you seriously have to be connected to the game 24/7 and can't go without stepping away for a bit, then you have a bigger problem than just server maintenance woes... The game hasn't even been out a month yet so sit down and take a deep breath.
This is a guy that fails to consider that people HAVE stepped away from the game to deal with their responsibilities.Quote:

But I will say this as a person who owns a business. Unhappy and vocal customers are bad for business. Offer them something to make up for it. It probably won't cost anything and might mean a lot to them. For example, when McDonalds screws my order up and has to redo it they offer me a free soda or dessert. Costs them pennies but makes me happier about the wait. It's just good business.
I lost my best weapons in the rollback, everything in my secondary weapon slots are gone. I don't feel that Trion owes me anything, but I'm not a happy customer right now.
