usually all that does is forcing people to either get a big group for something that shouldnt require that many, or grind their *** off in easier content till they are way overgeared, then tack on the "difficult" content
but anyway thats related to the actual gameplay, not the dying penalty. you could have the easiest gameplay ever, and an incredibly long death timesink wouldnt make it any more "difficult"
looking at a timer go from 30:00 to 0 != difficulty nor challenge
