Here's the commands it accepts. Nothing really interested me much until I saw you can change your loadouts really easy this way. Not to mention the social commands are really neat as well.

What about movement & shooting? or is that all controlled by the controller still?

Oh nice, the load outs one would be pretty useful. Also, I have played a lot the last few days but is there a quick way to change between load outs already? I seem to be totally missing it if there is (to be honest, I have't looked it up yet, just now thought of it again lol).

One would think 'Reload' would be an ultra important one on that huge list of useless commands.

Kind of crucial in an FPS. Did we get an answer for this?

I loved using the Kinect on ME3. Pretty much only thing I had to do with the controller was point & shoot.

For the loadout commands, I noticed there was a generic "Loadout" and then 5 loadout commands with the number attached.

I read in another thread that the loadout command takes you to the loadout screen, but do the "Loadout 1" etc also bring you there or just swap the loadout to the one you want without opening the menu?

You still use the controller for everything but the voice commands

Just sittin' here yelling at the xbox now.

I grabbed the kinect and just hooked it up. I can do basic functions on the dashboard, but saying "Xbox Loadout 3" and just "loadout 3" does nothing. Am I missing something here? Thanks!

There are few things worse than listening to a Kinect user. The reverberations it gives off and the background noise it picks up are extremely annoying.

Love hearing someone shoot off a gun then having to hear it again a second later.

In-game you specify the Kinect command by saying "EGO" first, not "Xbox". I believe you also need the chat channel set to EGO as well as another said. This is why a physical manual would have benefitted this game as the in-game manual is pretty clunky to navigate and seems to be missing some vital information (or it is buried).

Spoken like someone who has never used a Kinect in their life and hating on it because they think it is the cool thing to do. There is absolutely no reason to shout for it to recognize commands unless you never calibrated the system to your room. Mine recognizes voice commands in a normal to low voice from across the room with volume up on the game.

And FYI, I am not single and my live-in girlfriend has no issues with my gaming, Kinect or otherwise. Heck, she is even the one who bought me my first Xbox during the launch those many years ago. Kinect commands are of no different volume than my standard chat with people. Maybe you should actually educate yourself on the functionality of the Kinect before you spout nonsense that makes you look like a fool.

If you go to the Intel menu, there is a Kinect tab listing every possible command in the game, seems to be more than are listed in the OP and also where to say em. Got rid of my Kinect a few months ago but after seeing it work so well with Mass Effect 3 im gutted I dont have it for this

Nope, and it's the wife's Kinect that wasn't as much fun as driving to see her friends for exercise class.

I get where you're coming from: a friend of mine was yelling "Grenade!!!!" at ME3 during party chat. We kicked him, and it has never been an issue again. That said, EGO channel all the way.

The lack of a manual and the convoluted menus are bonus gameplay!

If you have the Kinect muted as a chat microphone, then is should only work for the in-game commands and your standard microphone would work for voice chat. I have not made use of it yet in this game, but plan on doing so soon as the loadout command would come in very handy. I use it all the time in Skyrim, just need to browse over the Defiance commands to see how it would benefit me the most in using it.

Not a multi-loadout person myself, nor do I own a Kinect. I can't say one would interest me here, as I don't like talking to my TV/Xbox while I play, especially if I have my mic on to talk to friends in-game.

Just because you are using the kinect doesn't mean you need to use it for chat.

I don't understand how somebody got Kinect to reliably respond to voice commands in Defiance.

I ran the Kinect setup program again, to see if that'd help.

I turned the TV volume off, so there'd be no other sounds to confuse it.

Push Down on the D-Pad, see that EGO has the arrow next to it, Say "EGO Loadout 2" while on Loadout 1 and absolutely nothing happens, over and over again.

Defiance does nothing locally, and requires the server to be ready to respond to voice just like how the menus sit there doing nothing while I'm trying to change loadouts in an arkfall, but at least pushing Start eventually does something.

So I'd like to know how often this works for anyone it works for. Run through "EGO Loadout 1", "EGO Loadout 2", etc., repeatedly, and tell me without fibbing that it works each and every time.

Meanwhile, when I put Skyrim in about a week ago to see what the DLC I bought did, Kinect had a decent success rate. Not PERFECT, but not the colossal failure that I see in Defiance. The joy of a program that isn't server-based...

I'll set it up this afternoon and give it a shot. Though your kinect may be broken? I've had very little issues in the past with Skyrim aty least.

Sorry to disappoint folks, but the load out change only works from the load out screen, so to change load out using Kinect would be:

EGO Load out (bring up load out screen)

EGO Load out 3 (selects load out 3 in the load out screen)

    No short cuts :-(

Sorry to hear that. If you could change loadouts without going in the menus, I would hook my Kinect back up.

I just retested. Unlike my last test, the loadout menu did appear after "EGO LOADOUT TWO", so apparently NOW in quiet times it does actually listen. You are right, no switch occurred, just the menu appearing.

This thing about having to activate the menu then select an item from it is total crap. If I have the menu up, obscuring my ability to fight, why would I bother to SAY what I wanted when mashing the Y button is probably faster. Sure, if I skip over Loadout 3 somehow and have to cycle back around to it, that'd be bad, but it'd be a lesson in why I need to mash slower.

If "one" through "five" have no current job in the Kinect lexicon, then I say they should fix things so "EGO ONE" (for example) actually switches loadouts with no menu shown. If they try to claim that some jobs can't be done without a menu being shown, I'd refer them to Skyrim as a source for code that works...

I was just thinking: what if Kinect support for loadout changes isn't a one-step operation to maintain balance in PvP matches so players without Kinect are protected from players that have it? I've seen stupider things done in the name of 'balance', and this kind of crap definitely falls under 'stupid'...

Yeah, unless you scan through your loadouts while doing something else with your hands, this is pretty useless. Actually, without a next/previous or up/down, completely useless.

I'm really glad to hear I wasn't the only one yelling Ego Loadout 1 and having it bring up the menu or do nothing at all. I thought it was me so I had a text to speech program read the command out from my computer and I had the same results. Kinect was great with ME3 (with only a few hiccups like Ash throwing a grenade when I sneezed). This game not so much.
