Does anyone else see the connection between the 99ers and the BORG?
Not as much actually. Yeah, they have generic evil cyborg thing going, but the borg at least have some purpose, when viewed objectively. They seek to better their own race by pillaging what they can from others.
They're like the English language.
The 99ers on the other hand are just generic evil cyborg. Because we all know having silicon chips in your brain makes you evil.
Not really. While they're both essentially synthetic races, you don't see the 99ers showing up en masse, taking towns and assimilating people. That's the very core of the borg, swarming and assimilating.
And Scrappers are the after Ark-Net fall terminators.
Whats your point? O_o
The Raiders are straight out of Mad Max.
I actually just got to the cutscene where we see Nim for the first time last night and my girlfriend says, "Why are there Borg in your game?" I know he's not a 99er but it still made me laugh.
In other words, "nothing new under the sun."
Pretty much always been the case.
They strike me more like the Reavers from "Firefly".
Az
Seems to me that 99ers just want to keep being miners, and everyone else wants to kill them.
When you find 99ers they're mostly chipping away at rocks or fixing bridges... then we roll up and gun them down.
It is sad.
As a huge Trekkie.....Thats all I can think about. Theres no way you get that close to a drone with Nim.
Nim looks like he just stepped off a Borg Cube.
Hellbugs: Starship Troopers
Raiders: Mad Max/Fallout
Mutants/Biomen: Fallout
Dark Matter: Dark Eldar [Warhammer 40k]
Nim Shondu: BORG
Scrappers: Geth or Reapers [from Mass Effect]
EGO: Cortana [Halo]
That's all I can think of for now. :p
But the 99ers DO show up en masse, take towns, and assimilate people. Anything to improve their production rates. There are a couple random missions where you have to rescue hostages from this fate actually and you can see people in tubes being transformed in certain areas.
Speaking of, why are there no female enemies? WTF Trion?
