Playing Defiance online with a silver account?

Hey guys and girls, I am not positive but I was made to believe you cannot play online games with the xbox 360 if you do not have a gold account? If this is a true statement then why are there players with silver accounts on there?
To top it off, its these players that are glitching the time trials times and its really getting annoying.
With all the bugs and glitches in the game, why are the devs ignoring the most frustrating ones? I don't get it!!!

You have to have gold to play defiance, but I believe this last weekend was one of those everyone gets gold access weekends. So they could just be from that, or they could have played when the game released and then they ran out of gold time.

They have to cover THREE platforms, PC, xbox and PS3, they're going as fast as they can, be thankful you're not on PS3, they're 2 patches behind I think.

It was a free weekend for NA but also if they added xbl trial codes(48 hr) to their account it counts as silver still

They were online just an hour or two ago so maybe they extended it. Thanks for the replies guys.

xbox and pc are just beta testers for the ps3

May be using 48 hour trials. Still says you have a silver account when you use them.

multiply that by 3 cause xbox breaks there hasn't been anything that works since the 1980's. thank you america and your throw away policies instead of making quality products. maybe they should NOT use 9 year-olds in Chinese factories

Now double that, aaaand add some more for European Gold subscribers

If players were somehow managing to play with only silver accounts, that wouldnt be Trion responsible, its an Xbox thing, your Xbox is what stops you playing games online without gold membership, not the game or Trion
