Can't necessarily say I have a be all, end all weapon. I have a bunch of them. It's all depending on how I want to go about it. Plus, I rank up a weapon, I stop using it. I do like VOT weapons tho.
Most fun to use would probably be VOT Mass Cannon and make it rain.
i agree with reiign15, depends what im doing, but i tend to stick to my VOT sawd of nano gun. 257x12 damage. cant complain. im 933 EGO and i got it back when i was EGO 69

I have had whites at close to the same level better than blues
Blue Wolfhound with a 1.25 and 1.15 Critical multiplier on it.
It's simply amazing.
Any FRC Saw of any color with pretty much any combination of nano effects and "special" abilities.
With those guns, if you aren't in the top 5 (I only say top 5 and not 1st because it is likely that 3 or 4 others will be using one) of every arkfall and getting 1st in every co-op map (as long as no one else is using one) then you are doing something wrong.
Note: They really aren't all that useful in the shotgun/explosive fest that is PvP.
i beat SAWs all the time with my FRC heavy. I actually don't think i've ever not gotten 1st in an arkfall/co-op damage board if i was there for the duration + trying since i fully modded it.Quote:

Take a shooting on a forge for instance: If you have the ammo clip mod that gives you over 100 bullets per clip in an LMG (plus other mods) you should be doing over 100K damage to a forge IN ONE CLIP. Hell, even then you often still do more damage then almost everyone else. It is highly common to finish in the top 5 of an arkfall with an LMG ONLY doing the final stage.

The only weapon I've seen that can give the SAWs a run is the Heavy Assault Carbine.
They do 444 base damage if I recall correctly, and have a fairly high RoF, but are semi-auto. I equipped one with a burst magazine, so it fired in 3 round bursts and you could just keep tapping like it was full auto, but I think the extended mag would work just as well for those with a fast trigger finger. The weakness is that the magazine is only 20 rounds.
If you use perks that help you reload faster, add on a barrel for extra damage and then have fire nano, those weapons could easily run alongside any SAW.
The SAW still gets the edge from me though because it's much more effective at hip firing when you get in a tight spot because of the huge magazine.
My best weapon so far is a purple (I'm at nearly 900 EGO and still have not seen anything orange) FRC SAW with a base Machinist synergy (5% less damage when reloading), -.30 recoil, and another boost (might be 1.1 x mag). Has electric nano and syphon melee nano. I'm hoping to get some good synergy mods for it soon, I haven't used it yet because I haven't gotten any mods I felt are worth to be placed on it lol.

My sawed off skill isn't capped yet either so some stats will be getting better.
Give me an AR that isn't a VOT weapon and i'm content. throw in a VBI-Auto TACC shotgun just for fun as well.. don't care about what color the weapon's name is. I'll throw on whatever mods i feel like...usually for ARs its extended mags/powerbore/external recoil and shotguns get the power choke, melee butt stock and a fast mag or the one that makes the effects work better.
I constantly out dps lmg users with a bolt action sniper. If you have good aim and can hit crit spots constantly, you can put out sick DMG. I can put out over 100k on a forge with a sniper in less than half a clip. Hard for lmg players to get DMG when you constantly one shot most regular enemies and do massive crits to larger ones.Quote:

That I believe. After getting LMGs to 20 I started on Assault Rifles and noticed very little drop off in my DPS. The only problem is that their fire rate is virtually the same and they have half the clip. Considering I played FFXI for 5 years I know how dps works. The fact is everyone is hoping on the saw bandwagon. I'm not saying it isn't a good weapon, but to assume its the best by just looking at the stats and not testing it extensively is not a good idea. Just because an item looks like its the best dosen't mean its the best, a common practice among mmo players. I have done a fair amount of testing with various weapons. That is why I have my damage popups on. The only reason I care to see how much I'm doing is to attempt to scientifically quantify the abilities of various weapons. I've test fired various weapons and timed how quickly I can fire a clip and reload.
The fire rate and consistent damage of the LMGs (and some Assault Rifles) is just hard to dispute. Sure some sniper rifles can do some sick damage. Personally I've never been able to fire them fast enough to get a decent DPS out of them (I've never seen anyone that could).
Close quarters weapons like shotguns carry the disadvantage of forcing you to put yourself in a situation where enemies can often knock you down or disrupt your firing or reloading in some way. Their clips are also to small and their reload times to long. All of those factors kill their DPS. However, their CQC damage values make them dominant in PvE.
The only weapons I haven't really tested that much are infectors and most of the explosive weapons so I can't really speak to them but I doubt the fire rates on explosive weapons are good enough to do sustained DPS.
The saw is a great weapon not saying the best, plus it's a easy weapon to get so you can have a stock of them to keep working on your xp. I've had about 4 of them and I'm only 511 ego rating.

It's cool. I agree that your best weapon is what you like. I'm just tired of people using a saw because everyone else does. It's like a community of lemmings. Instead of trying out different weapons for themselves, they just see everyone using a saw and follow suit. That being said I run AR's, bolt action snipers, smg's and sawed offs. I'm constantly on top on arkfalls and coop maps. It's not the weapon, its your skill with the weapon and your skills set.
I use SAWs because I use LMGs in every game I play, and always gravitate to the slow firing high damage varities. It's actually nice to find a game where they aren't at a disadvantage lol. Most of the time LMGs are an afterthought, at least in every game I've played up until this one.Quote:

I found a couple sweet ars (I prefer ars in general in most games) that cause 379 damage and one has the green bio stuff... Pretty sweet!
Another good fond yesterday was a "vot vasu masu" or something .. Usually they only have 40 dmg but this one had 200 dmg... Pretty awesome
Incubator. I've maxed out two so far, and finally was able to buy a blue one from a hidden vendor.
I never use the other models of Infector weapons, so I don't know if they do require 5 hits, or death, to generate bugs. My Incubators have all generated bugs on contact, along with the advertised biological impairment that never really slows down much of anything. These bugs simply MURDER stuff. Around 617 damage per bug before it dies, and if there's nothing left to kill they go looking for more until their short lifespan expires. I tend to spray every enemy at an arkfall with Incubator shots and the stampede of my bugs following hellbugs and chomping on them is just amazing.
This is the one weapon that I really wish was available on a constant basis in a store. Then again, only in a store that very few people knew about, for my own protection in PvP...
