Like if some ultraguy coems and kills everythign fast with rockets or grenades andyou have pistols to have fun.. he gets majority ofthe reward.

well thats gonna piss me off, no more keys, AND I just had a sweet purple mutate into a useless pos on sunday after logging in after that whole mess form saturday, strangely the xp was kept and th emods but it became an entirely different kind of gun from the PWNAGE monster it wa son those events before that happened. causing people to lose weapons and making it a chore that we should be paid for to farm new ones will not encourage most people to throw more real money into a game that they already paid once to begin with. I'm getting ot the point where I may swear off unpirated video games to begin with altogether, and start spending my money on hookers, and kokain to use with both instead.

I still do them. I don't farm them for hours, I just hop in and blow some things up every now and then. Save some grateful digital folk. Pick up some shields and weapons for salvage.

[QUOTE=Allus Nova;435761]Does ANYONE even stop to do them, other than if they're near a mission you need to do?

I can still do it...but I get a few dozen scriptQUOTE]

It's scrip, not "script". You're not picking up pages from a sitcom to read.

I did them for a few hours yesterday to try to get the pilgrims to spawn.

After about 4 hours of not one pilgrim group spawning I can say I'm pretty much done trying for that pursuit, and putting in timed pursuits on something that is 100% luck is bull****.

I do them all the time, for the same reason I always did: fun. That's basically the only reason for me to do anything in a video game. I play because it's enjoyable. I like the flavor and variety of the events, and I find the combat and gameplay in Defiance to be a lot of fun. If I didn't like running around and shooting enemies for the sheer joy of it, I think I'd be in the wrong place.

Besides that, I don't really get the whole 'keycode nerf' outrage. Weapons still drop very frequently for me, especially in things like the emergencies and events. I have to take a time-out after a few minutes of combat just to deal with my full inventory. Every 4 white drops = 1000 salvage = 1 keycode, and it goes even faster than that, with greens and blues added in. Getting to that next lockbox has never been my motivation for playing the game. But if it were, with the way things practically throw salvageable loot at you, the salvage-to-key conversion they've given us is a very easy and straightforward way of earning as many keycodes as you want.

u can pick up weapons for salvage from co-op instances and arkfalls, they're more practical than the events. It's ironic that they increase the spawn frequency of events, yet remove any practical reason to ever do them again at all unless I'm sent to do one during a mission in order to complete it. I haven't touched those events since I realised i was no longer getting any keys for them, I consider it roleplaying what I would do in real life in similar situations. If I knew someone had nothing to offer or nothing worth taking from them for risking my life, or spending my personal time helping someone other than myself that I did not care about, I would continue going and not care about their screams or whatever I figured would happen to them. I tend to play games the way I would react in real life, I lack role playing imagination, i played eq like a sociopath my first few months of the game and eventually had to make an entirely new character and force myself to be more decent and less manipulative because of the group nature of the game making it difficult when people began to not want to group with me lmao. But in real life after social collapse and lack of retribution from any respectable power, I would ninja loot, walk by and not help people unless they had something I could steal instead of whomever was attacking them or were attractive and female and attractive females in short demand, I would lie cheat and steal since there would be no one to make me regret it, and in fact behaving in the opposite manner those circumstances would be the regretful behavior. so I play games in those sort of apocalyptic settings the same way, if you can't do anything for me why should I do something for you, if it isn't even worth the energy to take what little you have by force unless I'm starving or hadn't ravaged someone for weeks.

tldr: there is no point in helping those people, unless a mission requires you to do so. there are better ways of gaining salvage and xp. It might be fun roleplaying a brave hero briefly, but that gets old fast with no rewards and no glory.

Emergencies take like 30 seconds to do and get you like a block of xp. Who cares about getting keycodes from them... do them to get quick xp.

And for those of you not familiar with slot machines on reservation casinos, the odds are worse than they are in Vegas.

No way in hell I'm spending real dollars to get a fistful of green/blue garbage. It's not even worth grinding ark falls TBH.

I agree with you but I think the bigger issue outside the change to "Emergencies" is that the loot, even the best loot, found in lock boxes is really unimportant. The difference in a Orange weapon versus a Green weapon is negligible at best. Yes the really high, 2000+, EGO weapons seem to have a couple more open mod slots or even a slight better effect percentage, but overall in the grand scheme of things they are only slightly better. The lack of a true "Gear" progression for a lot of people really detracts from potential longevity of the game.

If there isn't a reason to continue playing people won't. I doubt that the promised DLC content will really add enough interest to keep people playing over the long haul. I understand this game is designed to be different from other MMO's but even with that being said, where's the hook? What is here to keep a player coming back after they have already run the same story line quests a few times, done enough of the same old side quests countless times or played the broken bunny hopping shotgun play they call PvP?

See to me that is the problem. I want to be entertained. I want to keep having fun and I want to be able to look a friend in the eye and tell him that this game is fun and it's worth the money to play. Problem is right now I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending this game. Yep it's fun if you buy into the concept that this is a Once thru the content and you are over for good kind of game. But this is billed as a MMO so i expect to keep playing past all that. I want to be sitting on the edge of my seat looking forward to that next expansion. I want to see new things and build my character until he is a God. See my delima?

But they'll be sold into slavery, or tortured, or tortured and sold into slavery, or killed, or killed and turned into robot slaves!
