Character never feels like its growing.
First of all let me say Im enjoying the game.
I like a lot of the concepts Trion have made in this type of shooting MMO.
What is realy affecting my gameplay however is my feeling of lack of my character progressing.
To be frank, I feel the same power and person at my Ego lvl 920 as my toon did at the very start.
I understsnd Trion have made it clear they do not want a gear grinding game to make people log on to keep up with others.
But, the gear I have is a real mindbending thing to accept.
I have 3 Orange legendary weps that are way underpowered than an equal level green item.
The synergy are the same so equiping both should make me feel a bit more powerfull.
    But it never does.

I love the Ark Fals, and the fun around them.
But when all goes quite and I go out in the world, the fun faids and the feeling of being underpowered and only a few minutes from death is always by my side.
The only reason to play Defiance realistcally is to watch the Ego number grow.
Because your toon never grows with it.
Put it this way....when I started at the very beggining I had a basic gun and no mods etc.
Im now Ego lvl 920 with legenderies in both hands fully modded with awesome epic shield and "I feel exactly the same as I did at the very start"

Ther is no charecter progression, no looking at your toon when logging on and feeling your going to spend the next 4 hours playing and nothing making your toon actually more powerfull in the Defiance world.
You will still get owned by the same 5 mobbed enemy as you did 4 days ago.
I will carry on playing and just keep hoping things will get better.
Hopefully, there may be more content that actually makes you feel like your toon is growing.
    Fingers crossed:rolleyes:

    What do you guys think?
Have I played too many other MMOs where character progression felt more positive?

Yes. The character progression is flatter due to the desire to keep the power gap between new players and longtime players small for PvP and grouping purposes.

There is still some progressions, once we get new contents, i guess its gonna slowly make a huge difference

No real advantage to more perks once your slots filled. I don't even bother checking anymore, since another one cant help me.

More ego ponts! Big deal.. doesn't make me more dangerous or my guns any better.

Not a single mission or event that yields a reward worth chasing. Even the bosses drop nothing by design!

The much ballyhooed arkfalls give me nades and shields...

Can anyone tell me how i can spend my time that offers at least the possibility of worthwhile reward?

Obviously you have not noticed around 1,550~1,600 EGO rating weapons start getting dual bonuses on them. For example, I have found a bolt action Sniper Rifle @ Ego level 1,555 that has x1.05 damage and x1.15 crit. Without being leveled at all. There is progression, it is just subtle.

arkfalls, pvp, and/or co-op missions for keys. i usually just pvp because that is what i like, but co-op seems to be the best time spent to gear acquired ratio.

Oh i feel you dude, i have had quite a few discussions about this on here and all i get back most of the time is this game is not an mmorpg. Whatever name people want to put on it if there is no character progression then i cant see why people would want to play this game for the forseeable future.
As for having no progression to keep Pvp balanced is ridiculous, Pve and Pvp should be both different things, i have played mmo's for the best part of 7 years and can probably count on one hand the amount of times i have done Pvp. Just not my thing, gimping my Pve play because of Pvp just doesn't sit well with me.
