i'd love to use the heavy assault rifle but i wont touch it do to the scope. none of my weapons have a scope other then the sniper rifle. not sure who thought up of doing it this way but there are other options they could have added. iron sights as others have mentioned and other options in the game such as the laser sights npcs use.
OP makes a good point, I use AR's a lot and I assumed that sinse there's 2 types of scopes for AR's one would be a standard scope that magnifies the target and one would be an ACOG type thing for close quarters. Instead they're both the same. I get th "no iron sights" since this is a TPS and I can't think of a single TPS that has iron sights but it can really screw up your CQC game if you have any sort of scope on your weapon.
In order to lift this well kept secret (I thought it was rather obvious and well known), here's the list:
BMG - no sight
Infector - no sight
Launcher - no sight, no stock
Detonators - no sight, only melee stock
Guided rocket launchers are different of course, in terms of mods and inventory organization they seem to be so important that they have an own category ... doesn't really reflect in gameplay though.
Launchers have sights.
at least the Swarm/Mass Cannons do.
Confirms GUIDED launchers have sight mods, completly forgot about detonators sorry...
Now i'm really out ><"
peace :)
This game is in total ruin things that should be in game are not things in game are done incorrectly. Things they try to fix break even more b.c they were done wrong. This game is poisoning itself.
Yeah the sights are annoying. I must agree.
However there is one exception in the game. If you're a Shotgun user, the Hip Spread Mod doesnt actually have a scope view on it.
Funny, I chalk that up to "From PC developer, with love." Console developers manage to make tight, user-friendly user interfaces all the time. If it's badly designed, blame the developer.
You need another example? To log into the game, I first have to hit start to tell it that I'm done looking at the title of the game, which is remarkably similar to the one that I just clicked on to start the game. Then I have to agree to the terms and conditions. Do you know how many PS3 games I own that require me to agree to the terms and conditions every time I play? One. This is all Trion. Terms and conditions belong on the download, not the start up, and every console developer worth their salt already knows that. Once I've accepted the terms, I don't need to accept them again until they change, because I've already accepted them. That's babytown frolics. Thanks, PC developer.
Then I have to check for patches before I play. I get that, because I've played online games before on my primitive console made of bearskins and stone knives. The thing is, this does not require input from me. It has to be done or I can't start playing, so the game just needs to get on with it and tell me when it is done. All of my other PS3 games can handle checking for updates without my help. Not Defiance. I have to hit X to confirm that I would like it to continue the process of starting the game. Then when it is done checking for updates I have to hit X again to, I don't know, pat it on the head for being a good console. If I hit X too soon, though, it will pause what it is doing. In the case that I accidentally pause the patching process, most of the time it will refuse to start again, because this passes for acceptable behavior in a PC game, apparently. Maybe Trion thought checking for patches should be a really simple minigame. Hey! Look there, extra content of the PC gaming variety. Thanks, PC developer.
After quitting and restarting the now-frozen game and timing my button presses to avoid pausing and killing the patching check process this time, I am finally able to select my character and log into the game itself, provided those servers are functional. Thanks, PC developer, love you too.
The problem isn't consoles, the problem is that Trion has not yet mastered simple concepts of game development like "starting the game should actually get you ready to start the game" or "the processes that you perform most often should be the simplest to perform". You want a "salvage all trash" option? So do I. There is nothing about consoles that prevents them from implementing it; the only thing preventing it is shoddy design. Borderlands 2 managed it just fine... on my console.
