That's not an excuse. Even when we play missions grouped together the game still acts like there's only one ark hunter in the story. My group members are never in my cutscenes, nor I in theirs.

As for the argument of "challenge"...

    1) Defiance has the functionality to scale up the difficulty of encounters by adjusting mob health, mob quantity, and mob type (example, exchanging normal mobs for elites). It can do this on the fly to adjust to any change in player presence. It's one of the game's features they were all too happy to tout during development. There should be no change in difficulty between 1 player taking on an encounter of 4 players, assuming they've done their jobs correctly.

    2) What challenge? Every mission in this game has a respawn point within a stone's throw of these encounters. There is no challenge that can not be overcome simply by throwing money (scrip) at the problem in the form of respawn fees. I would argue that if you had to respawn several times to beat an instance, you failed at whatever challenge might have existed. And yet the game rewards you for completing the mission all the same.

While I do agree with the sentiment of letting story missions like this be co op, I have to dissent with the idea that it should be so people have an easier time.

The problem with this is that, while a player struggling CAN get better at the game, those who already don't find it challenging would roflstomp the content even harder.

So, my vote is: Yes, allow Nim Co-Op, BUT scale it accordingly :D

Sidenote: Why is there a need to coddle players? I am usually not a negative Nancy, but I see a lot of people on these boards asking for nerfs or ways to get a hand (with this boss in particular). The game's only been our a couple of weeks, I think it's natural that some players haven't beat it yet.

The real question is: are the majority of players killing Nim? I would think so, I'm not SUPER skilled at shooters and he was a walk in the park. That's not an attempt to stroke my epeen, it's just that in this sort of game that's the difficulty you have to go for to keep players engaged.

There is no easy mode in Defiance. And if a segment of the player base can't beat content because of lack of skill (not mechanics) then, that's a sad day for them, but you shouldn't nerf the enemy because then it cheapens the experience for EVERYONE else who CAN beat it.

Forgive me if someone has already said this, but if you are really having a tough time, here is how you can win by yourself.

When it gets to the point where he starts lobbing grenades and you have to hit the goblin fuel tanks, just go run up to the far left hand corner and hide behind the big metal box. He can't hit you with grenades and you have cover from anything else shooting at you.

Also, you have the perfect shot to hit the fuel tank from behind right when the dudes jump up out of the door in the ground. So, just play it cool there and wait for a goblin to jump up, shoot the tank, go run and take a few pot shots and then go back to hunker down in your hiding spot. Rinse and repeat.

So i would really like to see this mission and other boss mission have a group option for players like me that are having a hell of a time with them. Every other games like this with tough bosses it lets you solo or team up.

Yep I was going to play today, but darn it i just can not do it,because i know that dang Dark Matter mission is going to tick me off again. So i am really not sure when ill play the game again.

I agree that it should be a group mission, but not due to difficulty. This game is supposed to have MMO elements, and yet it forces players to do some missions solo? Pretty weird if you ask me!
To address the problem of the boss being to hard, just make sure you have a 'respark' shield, and mash the evade-roll-button-thing and it's easy.

Frankly the boss battle is just the right difficulty for a final boss fight.

However, I fully agree that ALL content should doable in a group. This is an MMO, not a single-player RPG. If I want to SP, I can just play Fallout 3/NV. I lost count of the number of missions my brother and I had to get pass individually when we brought this game for it's multiplayer content.

Did I find the fight hard? Kinda. Death on first phase, death on third phase.

Does it need to be a group mission? HELL YES. Keep the difficulty the same, but this is an MMO for crying out loud. Quadruple his health, add more attacks focused on multiple targets.

I found this final boss to be rather tough too, until I got the swing of things.

I looked at various threads and videos of how others took him down, but I stuck to using my LMG and Detonator. There's a definite strategy on fighting him too. Kiting him around the room is a must. After my 5th attempt I finally took him down. EGO at the time was probably 740. Using Cloak.
