because u can hack it...naw. its relatively cheaper than buying a console.
PC Graphics mainly. They'll always remain supreme to a console. At least that's why I use a PC. It's a Big Boy machine. I'm an adult and I do adult things. I'm obsessed with the fast, most expensive parts. It's a hobby to build your own computer. Mine is $6500 of pure adrenaline and there is NOTHING I won't be able to run. Ever.
Plus you learn to multitask. Game, surf the web, watch movies. Been doing it for 18 years now. Especially with 3 monitors.
OH and to answer your question, 95% OF ALL ACCUSATIONS of hacking are simply some poor shmuck that got killed because he got outplayed.
Basically, if you die, someone cheated. You'll notice people only type words, they never, ever offer proof. Because there is none most of the time.
Not since the days of Quake my friend. Gaming on a PC is like going to Prison. It'll make a man out of you, you'll become a better gamer or you'll get ****ed *****.. Everyone else plays on a console.
no. I have never understood the need or desire to "hack" a game and when I play online with people who do I try to get as far away as possible to enjoy the game. Hence playing on a console. I realize consoles are effected but nowhere near the magnitude as the PC.
how old r u exactly, building a computer isn't a job most teens could accomplish. Also, not to get into a console v PC debate, but one is a dedicated platform (albeit cheaply designed) while the other is designed to do anything and everything.
@Regrets. Thanks. Those are reasons. Those are answers. Thank you.
Both have their pros and cons, I've played on both and in the end I stopped on Xbox and have no plan to return to PC anytime soon.
With their better graphics and access to more games/content (Indie games and mods) they also have more hackers.
Don't take this as a negative post toward PC cause I enjoyed my time there as much as anyother. Just for whatever reason Xbox stuck.
console hardware is always outdated even before the day they ship. Most games are created on state of the art computers, then watered down to fit in your tidy little console box. why not experience them in the full environment they were born from?
Regrets really hits it on the nail. Most PC gamers prefer either the superior graphics performance of their PC (I am also in this category), prefer multitasking with multiple monitors (ditto on this one), and/or have better in-game control of their toon with mouse/keyboard. I played on a 360 for years when there were more games that were exclusive to it, but these days, my 360 collects dust. There were plenty of games I've played/owned for both 360 and PC, and I always prefer the PC version.
When it comes to hackers, it is all relative to the game. Again, Regrets is right. Lots of people claim hack when outplayed. I've seen the hacks for defiance, and I MAY have encountered 1 game out of 100 where someone was. Other games, LOTS more hackers, in which, stop playing it if you aren't enjoying it instead of complaining.
I got out of consoles after SNES really, been building my own machines and just prefer pc gaming myself. Consoles are just PC's with limited hardware and operating system, you can't really upgrade them without buying a whole new system.
Emphasis on SNES, dude that was before a large portion of the demographic was even born. I doubt anyone thinks consoles are superior to PCs, but they are just so damn convenient.
--side note: console upgrades happen every 6-7 years, which is relatively infrequent in terms of upgrading a computer.
I've logged over 200 hours and seen 2 players I knew were hacking and a few I suspected were hacking but well and truly sucked anyway.
Are there hackers? Yes. Are they common? No.
Incidentally we desperately need some sort of option to report players for hacking.
The graphics are amazingly better. Youd be suprised but consoles only get half the game in a sense. Theres whole objects missing on console in alot of cases and PC gets weather and real world physx or liquid effects. Consoles just dont have the memory or high powered graphics engines
Alright, there's proof in the forums for me to back up my awfulness at PvP anything....from hence forth all deaths by other players was due to hacking and I no longer suck when it comes to playing with other kids. Yeay for Technology being the blame for my social problems! :D
Just kidding....I just suck at PvP, I might get 1 kill in a TDM but I'm pretty sure none of the deaths I've come across have been, and I love the term, hackery. Just plain ol' bad playing but still so much fun.
I have only once seen a hack in the game, or it was a bug.
I went to the boss (the big hellbug where you have to shoot at its armpits) at the end a major ark fall, which was completed in 20 seconds, where the top player had a damage score 1000x higher than anyone else.
Sadly you cannot rule out a bug, I mean when you go to a major scrapper ark-fall, the sub ark-falls are all completed within 10 seconds each, everyone just focus fires on the same crystal which dies in 2 seconds flat. You would sort of expect Trion to notice this and up the HP on those crystals a bit.
Keyboard + mouse are more versatile to use than a controller ... theoretically if options for that wouldn't have been forgotten.
While a hotkey MMO would simply not be possible with consoles at all, a shooter still favors WASD-mouse-look for speed and reflex.
Using a keyboard anyways makes chatting much easier helping with the social aspect of the game or rather making it possible in the first place ... if there would be an efficient and proper chat system of course.
Because literally everything regarding PC gaming is superior to console gaming. Exploiters are in all games on all platforms. So are cheaters. On the PC you typically have more efficent methods of marginalizing both unlike consoles. You can't try to imply that the PC platform isn't worth gaming on by citing a terribly managed console port having cheating issues.
Well there have been a few hackers on the PS3 in Shadow Wars. One example is someone was using the Black Dodge Challenger in Shadow Wars, and basically getting around 20 kills per match without any deaths... Except when people on my side pulled out lots of lock-on missiles lol. Yet people call me a cheater for using a VOT bolter for short-long range combat...
Wrong. Pong was developed decades after what was the "1st video game".

Personally I prefer keyboard and mouse gaming over controller. In my case, it's been more social, better equipped to handle online gaming, and way cheaper and easier through digital distribution.
The new console I buy will have the latest dvd tech and game series that look interesting or are continuations of what I have played in the past.
Unless a VR system comes out roughly like the one from SAO and other books/manga/animes...then I will drop for that console. Otherwise, PC for me. Its just a personal preference.
Maybe something like the shooter game in that Gerard Butler movie. Crappy acting aside, the idea of it is pretty neat.
'..gaming on pc is like going to prison..it'll make a man out of you'? lol..have you ever spent time? sh*t, i doubt that..i did tho - 4 years in attica (not proud of!)..and you know what?..i play on ps3! so what now 'big' boy? ;) ..btw, i have a pc too..system cost well over 8k..but who cares?
to be honest w/ you..you sound more like a 35 yr old fat boy who's still living @ home w/ mom..sittn in front of his cool a*s pc and playing wow 24/7 while munching family size pizzas
Somebody plays on PC, because they cannot adapt to console joystick, and because of that suck in all shooters. They like their mouse/keyboard point system. )
And on PC every child can use hacks, very easy, and almost undetected, and almost always without consequences..
On console it is almost impossible cheat, and if you do, ban hammer will reach you soon.
And about players - i played Battlefield on PC and on Xbox, and xbox players is much much better in all aspects - skill / behavior etc..
I'm guessing they were referring to mapping keyboard commands to a controller, it's not hard but can be aggrevating to find a comfortable setup, and can also be very limiting.
Example: I recently played T.E.R.A. for a bit. I routinely used about 25 different abilities/hotkeys for my class/character. Yet, the game supported controllers. There's simply no way to map that many commands to a controller and still be as functional and feel as natural as a good old fashioned mouse and keyboard. Not to mention adding a PC gaming mouse and all it's buttons to the equation.
I just feel a console controller is very limited, and theres very few things I prefer it for. (mainly driving and sports games)
Only a matter of time before it's rampant on all consoles.
