    Weapon LvLing; A Question.
While I'm hunting for an actual guide book of some sorts, I figured I'd toss my question out here...

So I gain skill LvLs while using various weapons, IE I gain LvLs with my BA Snipe by using the BA snipe, I get that, but... When I look at the BA Snipe I've been using, it has an XP Bar on the actual weapon that's maxed out, and I can't recall the last time I gained a skill LvL with my BA Snipe... Does that mean I need to use a new rifle to continue gaining skill LvLs with that particular weapon?

    Exactly.

The problem is that I can't find a better weapon. I'm still using the same old ones I've got days ago... every reward and every drop is worse.

Frack my face then... Nothing I'm picking up is better since I modded my current BA Snipe with Tier 2 blue mods. THis is gonna suck =X

Aye, - i realised that after a few hours and stopped modding weapons at all. Well, those 500scrip thinggies, but nothing serious. Its just a waste of scrip and salvage.

Now, having the skills a use at 20, i start looking for mods again. So, lets see - did i have more fun the last few days without modding and burning through 50 boltaction rifles? Guess what.

    Nope.

Who the fudge had the idea to implement such a system for leveling a weapon skill? I just dont get it.

Well, the system would be ok if it would be like Borderlands were you constantly get newer and better weapons.

Welcome to the number one thing that grinds my gears about this game. It doesn't encourage getting good weapons; you want disposable weapons. You don't want a Legendary good one; you want an endless supply of crappy white quality weapons!

I disagree completely... The idea is you find disposable weaps to grind levels, but when you come across an orange, purple or even a blue that fits ur desired build ie. assassin, quartermaster w/e.. you keep it and hope it has nice bonuses. The hard thing will be grinding mods for the specific synergy AND weapon type.

At this point I wish I was Korean 'cause daym that be a lot of combinations :(

I believe that once your weapon maxes out, you need to get another weapon of the same type to continue leveling. You can always remove the mods from your rifle before you scrap or sell it. So its not a waste because (i think) you can reuse the mods, and your hunting was helped by the mods.

Frack no. Remove mods needs to be name changed to Destroy Mods. /stoopidly angreh panda bahr When I tried to get my mods back the first time -_-'

EDIT : My wife's a gamer as well, but she's the one that plays Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto, Sims, Gears of War... I told her about the hoops you gotta go through to add mod slots, then to add mods, then about the XP grind PER weapon, and she said that kinda sucks. Her jaw hit the ground though when I told her yer mods where destroyed if you tried to remove them though. Seriously, it was kinda funny. Then she said that was probably the dumbest **** she's ever heard =P

Sadly, you cant stop using expensive mods waiting for that "good weapon" because there will always be a next good weapon.

You will be forever waiting for that Wunderwaffe.

^^ That. I keep a purple AR and a Purple Grind Fragger, completely maxed out in a loadout slot with my perfered perks. Both have really good bonuses for maxing out and fully modded. If I need damage, in a tough situation, or want Arkfall rewards (but no weapon xp), I switch to it.

I don't mod out my grinding weapons, I buy green versions of said weapons off the Vendors normal stock (just have to search around for the gun, and hope it has a nano). When they are maxed, they become salvage, and I always have my Purps when I'm in trouble though.

The 'good' weapons to look for are the ones that have the perks you like. With that being said the annoying part is that I keep doing the Side Quests and getting better Mods. Well, since inventory space is so limited I sell them. The developers should fix it so that once you do a Side Quest and "unlock" a better Mod, you can buy the better Mods at a vendor.

Maybe not that... How about vendors that sell the advanced LvL mods for ridiculous amounts of Scrip?

Selling the game, DLC, and expansions won't be enough to support the game. They want (and need) you to buy from the Defiance Store. Ergo the limited space. They need to put better, value packed stuff in the store though. Which I bet they will soon.

    That's an opinion.

Besides, weapon leveling becomes moot once you max out the skill.

That it's an opinon goes without saying...come'on :)

I know that a weapon's xp maxes out eventually which is why I don't like the system but are you saying that a weapon class skill such as "Assault Rifles" maxes out as well?

Ya, each particular skill maxes out at 20 I believe. The XP gained for those particular skills is gained through that weapon, but once a particular weapon maxes out on it's own personal XP bar then you'll no longer reap any benefits XP wise in yer personal skill with the weapons.

IE My pump shotgun skill is now 3, and the particular SG I'm using is maxed out in XP so I'm no longer gaining in skill with it.

Just hit me... As the XP required to gain skill lvl's with particular weapons gets higher... Yer gonna have to trash a LOT of weapons to max out.

Yeah. Removing Mods. Everytime a gun maxes...
    Ahem.
    No.

Retrieving the mods from my Rifly actually costs me 37500 salvage. I needed ~50 guns to get the skill to twenty.

    Do the math.

(Yes sir, you are correct, thats roughly 2 million salvage.)

Removing mods from yer rifle, or adding mod slots to new rifles? Cause anythime I tried to get my mods back they vanish =P

EDIT : I'm assuming it auto destroys the current mods to make way for new ones.

    There are two options:

Retrieve all mods and detroy the gun OR destroy all mods and retrieve the gun.

Just read it carefully, everythings explained.

Cost goes up exponentially with Ego-Level though.

If you run out of newer weapons just do the bolinas sniper hotshot mission to lvl your ba sniper, also the shooting the chickens for pistols and that mutant shotgun rampage in mnt tam. You won't have to swap out your weapons plus you get exp for doing it.

I have gained more specific weapons skill points with weapons that were themselves already maxed out.

Lots of MMOs require disposable weapons for grinding. The limit is usually durability. Either they break, or you can fix it at high cost. Here, you can keep using it if you want. You just wont level?

    Solutions:
-Get the best you can and just keep upgrading
-Mod a decent weapon for general use, and slowly collect good mods for your better weapon(s) to use later

Do not keep holding back waiting for that dream weapon though. You'll end up never getting it. If you dont max out soon enough, theyll open a new area with tougher mobs, and increase the weapon cap. Then you'll be forever chasing. A problem I have experienced in other games.

save your good weapons after maxing them out, not just for the synergy mods with the better quality, but for co-op and arkfall damage (most arkfalls so far except the hellbug extermination waves I'm not killing things enough to be able to level a weapon any) and co-op is a good place to level some kinds of weapons but you can breeze throught hem and farm them faster with your best weapons out. then for side missions, main missions, or any other missions level off of disposables or when you're out doing contracts that take place off of events or camps int he main map you can level gear too

Hah I was wondering why my smg skill was'nt going any were ...100+ ego raiting later!
Seems like a silly sytem IMO but hey I am enjoying the game a hella alot more then WoW.
I think leveling a weapon should I dunno boost the weapons Ego raiting? then reset the weapons EXP gained to Zero till you level it again. Meh just an Idea. I really Enjoy running amok with a shotgun with a 15 mag clip then switch over to a SMG to mow down whats left of the horde of baddys chasing me! ATM I am finding it hard to get a smg with a 40+ round Mag. in fact All I seem to see drop is rocket luanchers lol.
Had 3 Epic rocket luanchers drop yesterday ...then a Green one droped that was a tad bit more dmg just no bonus stats.
DMG> bonus imo while leveling thus far.

Maxing the weapon out already gives a random Combat bonus. But, I've heard rumors (other posters that have been around for a while) that resetting your weapons' exp back to 0 may be added later, but its likely going to cost.... Ark salvage, and a lot of it most likely.
